#1467, "whoa...don't use plastic vacuum tees!"

Let me stress the importance of not using plastic vacuum tees, especially when it's near anything hot!!!

I was driving and something started smelling bad...so I finally popped the hood and took a look. And to my fright, I saw that my vacuum tee that was connecting my SFMU, wastegate, and turbo melted... emoji It got too near the exhaust manifold!

damn damn. I had moved my SFMU and mounted it above the cruise control module. But I didn't check the clearance of the vacuum line with the hood closed.. emoji

and I was driving a good deal of distance without my FMU! Good thing I tried not to boost too much since my fuel pump appears to be leaking pressure...

But now I'm worried for my engine...Is it safe to assume that no damage would be done if my EGTs never went past 800 degrees celsius?

heh...this probably explains why I was getting superb fuel mileage.. emoji

Yeah I'd say your engine is cool and still good to go.

A similar thing happened to me.. I was actually messing around under the hood shortening some vacuum lines.. and i forgot to put the vacuum line back onto the FMU..hehe Luckily my boost was set to only 5psi.. When i drove around under boost the a/f guage leaned out right away.. =)
Im assuming 1-3psi w/o an FMU you should be ok, hitting boost at anything above that might result in a ping of death ! =)

hehehe..
