i'm trying to put together my own turbo kit, and of course the manifold is not exactly a common part. i live in south florida so we have tuning shops galore, but it seems like they all want to rip me in the ass for one. just want to know if i have other options as far accquiring one preferably not expensive ones.

Define "not expensive". It also depends on what type of turbo you plan on slapping on too. I know there is someone on the ASOG board that sells manifolds.

places i went to were throwing prices like 700-1200 showing me equal distance manifolds and shit. i was looking to spend at the most about 400 i need it with a turbonetics flange. who's the guy on asog that sells the manifolds

Manifolds are 250 for ASOG members, 275 for others
we may bring the price down for 2gnt members, we'll see if there's a demand or not
extra: $25 for a 1/8 NPT threaded hole for a screwing type EGT sensor probe that is done on an extra metal ring welded to the manifold
They can be fitted with almost any kind of turbo flanges thanks to a modular design

It could use some porting to make it even better, like smoothing some of the welding at the exhaust ports
other than that it's a bolt-on manifold with the turbo flange of your choice, and we can also weld an external wastegate flange if you want one for an extra

Stan: the manifold is very compact, the IHI-RHB-52 that will go on my car is not a small turbo and I have plenty of clearance between the turbo and the radiator fan, almost 3.5 inch
from the manifolf flange to the maximum of the turbo flange it's around 5 inch overall

some details about the manifold: the manifold flanges are done in a machine shop on a CNC, the turbo flanges are done by us, the holes on the turbo flanges are now threaded (no more welded nuts)
the manifold are mig welded and pipes are 1.5 inch diameter
it can even fit a t-25 if you rotate the center section of the turbo and use a custom made o2 housing eliminator

I'd buy that sh*t next week, I'm only concerned about clearance of the turbo to the fan. Dont avengers have more room between the engine and front end. Maybe if the turbo flange could be less protruded forward if you know what I'm trying to say. hell its gonna be a junkyard set up anyway. I'm gonna email that ass soon.

Stan, keep us posted. but i actually think they have the same amount in the front as we do. i've seen an avenger with talon conversion. just different fenders, hood, and bumper and there was no fabrication so i imagine its all the same.

I can vouche (sp?) for alain's manifold. I am currently installing a twin turbo setup on a dodge avenger with a v6. Talk about tight spot. I'll post some pics of his manifold work. Welds are as perfect as it can be (actually better than hrc's!), hell i dont even know what else to say other than it mimics or exceeds the quality seen by hrc's manifold.

And he makes them helluva compact. I'm able to sneak a 9b turbo in a space smaller than a shoebox with these manifolds.

By rotating a turbo's exhaust housing, you can mount any mitsu turbo just like hrc's position so you can still clear lots of space. Dont have to have a "hanging" neck like dsm turbos...

i am looking to put on a garret t3/4e which is big a turbo. so will it be too close to the fans and melt the housing of them? i am really interested in this thats why i am trying to get as much info... i dont know how big the ihi turbo is so.... its unfortunate that doesnt help me.... Tommorow night I will add some pictures online of the manifold with the dimension
to give you a rough estimate the center of the turbo flange is about 5 inch from the engine exhaust port
on the Avenger we have around 11 1/2 inch from the engine to the radiator fan
my turbo is at the closest, 3 inch from the fan and that's on the compressor side
a metal duct will wrap my turbo to act as an air cooling duct on the turbine side


Now the long text NO there's no rip off we are not two youngsters trying to make fast cash, my name is very well established in the ASOG community for different things, I even just give Sicklife TT a free manifold so Kiku can rework his twin turbo setup i drove 700 miles twice to Wheatking's place, drove montreal-toronto just to have lunch with ASOG canada
I never puushed our products unlike some other peoples are doing with their stuff
it's not a coincidence that I started posting just this week, I watched your board almost weekly I was just waithing until your guys started to talk about the mysterious ASOG TYPE MODULAR MANIFOLD because that's the name of the product

history of the manifold: I bought a "manifold kit" from a certain shop in Florida that is selling so-so product, what I got was 1 rusted manifold flange with 4 ROUND i inch port, 4x1 inch pipes, 1 turbo flange no instructiond nothing welded of course, and all of this for $175 US
after talking to a lot of peoples about the flange I decided to spent $150 canadian (around 90 US) to a machine shop do oval port
I had to spend more cash on 1.5 inch pipes, we welded it we found a way ourself to put the turbo flange on the manifold with a small section of square pipe and one day, at Wheatking's place, while working on my headgasket we decided to try it on the car ... it didn't even fit
From there we decided that we can do better, we found a great machine shop to do the exact flange that our cars need, found a way to get discount on pipes, Marc invested in a MIG welder from his own pocket
We have to give Wheatking the credit of the idea of crossing 2 T pipes together to do the hi-flow neck where the turbo flange is
It it wasn't for the cash and time that we put in that manifold my car would be running with my own turbo system for months now instead of still beeing in parts , most of them ready to get bolted together

Some details about my car: engine is a stock 420a, tranny: auto with an 18000 GVW oil cooler place where the passenger side fog would be
Turbo: IHI RHB-52 water and oil cooled, completely rebuilt pulled from a t-bird 1988, intercooler: used 1999 eclipse intercooler that is converted into an active intercooler by the addition of a kawasaki 1300 radiator fan that is part of a cowl that goes under the intercooler, which will be top mounted where the battery is its output will join straight into the throttle body intake with just a reducing rubber coupler
injectors: ford #30 and vortech FMU
Electronic controls: a home made and designed micro controller system that reads binary-coded-decimal switches will command a bunch of 12V solenoid valves that will activate a water injection, a hi-boost kick system and a secret thing that will be show at carlisle

The manifold is only 5 inch at the highest point on the turbo flange
and it has the optionnal EGT hole and the flange is for a T-25 that will be installed like a T-3 style garrett, with a rotation of the center cartridge and a custom o2 housing eliminator

Why don't you just order one from star or HRC? Is it too much? I think mitseclps has a HRC or Star manifold (can't remember keeps taking those pictures of his car in the dark )

If I had $1 every time someone said this I would be Stage 5 right now
When I started this project last year there was only one manifold on the market, that nobody had seen before, and it was sold on a now non-existent web page for $550

neither Star or Hahn's give you the chance to use the turbo that you want to use and up until recently Hahn's didn't sold their manifold separately from the kit, even when peoples where quoting prices for the manifold Hahn were telling me at the same time that "sorry we don't ..... yada yada yada"

actually unless it has been a change in policy in the last 1-2 months, i called hrc and they STILL dont sell their manifolds separately mainly because they cant seem to spit new manifolds out fast enough before their kits already snatch them up...

Or you can just get a set of headers for a 420A and chop them up with a welding torch like I did.

You keep your downpipe, it's a good one, you ask a muffler shop to cut the first 2 inch of the downpipe, and to weld a new section of mandrell bent pipe that goes from the now-chopped downpipe up to the output of your turbo
