Hi, I have my car rebuild engine since I blown it last October. After a long waiting time, I finally could get my car back on the coming Monday! But something happened, some burglars broke into the shop at 3 to 4 o'clock on Sunday morning, they stole all the car audio stereo of every car fixed in the shop. They, of cause, took mine also. Right now, I have no idea what should I do, should I report it to police?coz they already did it.Or sould I get my car back to the road without my audio system first and wait for the cop to find out who stole it? Or ask them to pay me back first?Should I bring my camera and take some pic before I get it.....Do they have the responsibility to compensate what I've lose? Please give me your opinion what should I do and what's my right, coz I am going to pick up my car tomorrow afternoon....>_< One thing good is they didn't take my turbo system and the huge HRC front Intercooler........

well, under strict liability, they had possession of your car, and since it was on their property, they are responsible for theft/damage to the vehicle while its there.
i would find who their insurance carrier is, and what steps they have taken to solve/fix the problem.
i would also read the invoice they gave you to see if any small print is on it voiding their liability.
you "should" get reimbursed for your losses.
i would gather reciepts so that you are ready to act if they have already started the process.

heh...Sean is right...but it's not exactly "strict liability." It's called a bailment. Since they had exclusive possession of your car, they are liable to anything that happens to it during the possession.
Use that "bailment" language and tie in the "exclusive possession" stuff to any insruance people and get all your money back.

One thing I would not do is wait for the fuckin cops. Those fuckin pigs won't do shit all they did was take the report and that is the end of it. Maybe if they get lucky they might comes across your stuff but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Thats the fuckin cops for ya, lazy ass fucks. They would rather give us tickets for bullshit reasons ( for example: ticket for being too low which they recently gave me) than actually help us out for once.
