#13783, "fyi: custom turbo kit...boost level was at 3"
i just installed my boost gauge and what do ya know, it pegged 3. 175hp at 3psi. anyone have any explinations of why? seriously, i remember seeing dyno's of people running stage2's (hrc i think) that only did a lil more than me (5hp or so) at a full 7psi...??? i thought boost was boost and that no matter which setup i got would output about the same at the different psi levels. any ideas? i'm very happy i went this route, but i'm just curious why. tia.

how can you tell your even making 175HP? My star stage one is supposedly making 180 at 5 psi, not too far off. Did you dyno your car or are you just making an assumptions?

seriously though if an engine is easier flowing (reduced pumping loss..porting, better manifold designs, turbine with less backpressure ect), runs cooler (turbo that heats the air less, better intercooler ect) and is tuned well (AF ratio tuned to produce the most safe power) you can have a 420A that produces 175hp at 5psi and one that produces 225hp at 5psi.
