#13752, "first weekend w/ boost...a few q's"

wow. i'm only running 3psi and guess what happened my first race? i'm racing this brand new prelude w/ at least an exhaust as i'm pulling onto the highway, he's infront of me. i put it into 3rd and start flying, i'm staring at the rpm's so to shift at redline, but it didn't make it that far before my friend and i are scared shtless when we here a loud POP. DAMN. the shifter poped out of 3rd gear at about 6800rpms. i put it back in and we're off again. but if my clutch is going bad at 3psi, anyone got any suggestions? stage3 or 4? emoji either way, i hit 120 and my car just stopped accelerating, i'm not sure why. i know i'm an idiot, i didn't remember to look at my a/f gauge to see what it read, but i don't remember it going lean. if it did wouldn't i have heard the engine knock or something backfire or something go wrong if it wasn't getting enough fuel? it just kept goin at 120 for a while and felt fine, just wasn't accellerating anymore. i didn't hurt anything, did i? i have about 300 miles on the turbo, and have only ran it at 3 pounds since i got it. i'm just getting parnoid, thats all. i dont think i'm goin to go that fast again thou, holy crap cars come up on you quick.
ps i was faster than the lude.

looking at your gauges it doesnt look like you have and EGT. GET ONE! very important. you can get the pyrometer which i've seen in person for 106$ from summit, worx great seems very accurate. as far as the 3psi, hrc or star? i am guessing more of star cause i've seen people only be able to get 3psi on it. check for boost leaks and the wastegate. also your EGR valve. a friend of mine installed the star kit on someones car and the egr valve was leaking so they were only getting 3.5 psi if i remember correctly. just somethings you should check out. hope that helps

it's not about boost leaks i don't think, i have a custom kit w/ a t3t4...it just stopped going any faster, almost like it topped out. i KNOW i can go faster. maybe it was leaking once i get up that high...i'm pissed i don't remember if it was running lean or not thou. grr. i'm doing a compression test later thou to check my internals out. and i'm installing my boost gauge rite now. i'll look into the egt guages...

hmm well I've hit 130 and I think it still wanted to go, plus my car was loaded down with hella stuff.

Do you have picture of this custom turbo kit?

believe me your t3/t4 didn't top out at 120 (you can dot hat minus the turbo). I went to 130mph with stage 1 and 5psi as well (3psi intercooled at that speed should be at least close to equivalent if not better). I also have to agree with thunder, you A/F gauge may read that everything is okay while your pistons and rings are forming into one part. After I got my EGT I never ran to 130mph again (well I did but didn't stay in boost the whole way).
