I have some noise coming from my timing belt. When I checked it, the side of my timing belt was scraping the cover, so I moved the belt a little towards the middle so that it wouldn't scrape the cover. That took care of the noise until one day I put it in reverse and started backing up. The noise came back but it was louder than before and someting else from that area was grinding really bad when looked inside the cover, the cams seem to be okay but I saw something that looked like metal strips that were settled on the bottom of the cover. If anyone knows why thisis like this , please let me know. Thank you.

Not sure what the problem is, but if I were you I would take the cover off completely and do a further close inspection to find out what the problem is. Be prepared to purchase a timing belt if yours is damaged. Better to do this, then to have the belt break and end up bending some valves or worse. PEace...JIM

i will tell you exactly what your problem is. your idealer pulley is out. and it sucks to be you. mine was doing the the exact same thing as yours. it started a few months ago and about a week ago it turned into a full fledged squeel. you need to get it fixed soon. the timing belt is slipping off the pulley. mine is still in the shop and hopefully be out before next saturday (thats when i'm installing the turbo). i just had my timing belt replaced like two months ago. so ot all you people getting ready to do your 60k service. change everything in there. i now have to replace the idealer pulley $93, timing belt $112 (have to replace because of uneven where and it hitting the belt cover), and tensioner $131. everything plus labor is 594 bucks. fuck me. i would have saved 400 bucks and that could have bought me a nice cat-back
