I just got this thing in the mail yesterday, and installed it today. When it releases pressure, it makes a chirping noise, followed by a fluttering noise (sorta like the star turkey gobble I would imagine). Basically, it sounds pretty nasty, but what I want to make sure of is that the chirping noise is the BOV and not the compressor surging.
Also, does anyone else have this valve? Can it be adjusted somehow to make it sound somewhat pleasant? Thx in advance.

you shoulda gotten the type-h RFL....i just installed mine, and man i love it!
Cant get any more obnoxious than this bov =)
anyways, about your question, your bov should have came with spacers to make the valve "stiffer". The fluttering seems to be because your valve is opening/shutting/opening/shutting very easily.

I had the type H which is just a bigger version of the type S. it doesn't chirp or flutter at all. It doesn't make chirping sounds, it just sounds like air rushing like standard HKS of blitz. I find it hard to believe a turbo XS valve could flutter since there is no diaprham. its a solid piece of brass piston with a steel spring over top of it.

Well, I tried adding the washers to stiffen the spring up a bit, but it didn't change a thing. It still chirps and flutters. Could what I am hearing be compressor surge from the turbo??? Should I add more springs that what they supplied and see what happens? I'm stumped and frustrated with this thing.

Make the spring softer so the valve can fully open. The flutter you hear is the air trying to escape but the openning is not large enough. Soften the spring tension.
