Just a quick post... read alot of older posts here but did not find really what i was looking for. The shop where my car is being fixed at just totalled out a 98 GS-T. My question is that i know the guy is looking to get rid of some of the parts. Say i wanted to snag his turbo what would i need to grab to maybe switch my 96 GS over to a turbo setup? tia

Its one of those old questions thats been asked a lot of times but here is more more.....It would not work for less money than just getting a kit. And if you even got it to work the turbo is too small. It has a t-25 whos nickname is t"too small"25. The manifolds and down pipes are totaly different than the ones we have.

That's not really true at all. I have EVERYTHING I need right now and even if I estimate real high for DP and IC piping it's still well under 2 grand.

>>>what do you have so far<<<

Custom manifold, voltage clamp, 95 rail, #30 injectors, Cartech FPR, Walbro pump, Turbo, SMIC, oil lines, oil pan, Boost gauge, egt gauge, elec. FP gauge, triple pod, digital A/F, 1G BOV, oil pan, manifold, turbo gaskets. I think that's all off the top of my head. I got the rail, FPR, BOV, Turbo, SMIC, oil pan all used so that helped.

With all that stuff couldn't he just go ahead and weld the turbo mani to the flange on the N/T manifold and then start bolting on?

Wanna make a friendly bet on who gets turbo'd first? ALL I have right now is a walbro installed and thanks to a new car payment no money either? On top of that I MUST get the VW lowered before any moe car mods. So your advantage is you have what you need. Mine is I could strip everything I need off the car right now without having to worry about transportation. Some good friendly modivational (I spelled it that way on purpose...not an idiot) fun.

Hell no!!! I don't know where you live but I live in Ohio and it's a little cold and I have no garage. I'm installing my fuel pump, TT, all gauges before hand. But I'm not actually installing it till it starts to get warm...probably March. Plus it's my only car.

BTW Stan... I think it was you that said if I install my Walbro w/ out installing the FPR or having return line it will flow the same as stock and will not run too rich... Is that right?

Yes thats right. What I said was in a nutshell is its the job of the regulator and return system to keep fuel pressure at 50psi. If you put in a better flowing pump the regulator/return system will have to return more fuel. As long as you dont surpass the flow capability of the stock return line and regulator you shouldn't run rich. The line I'm sure is big enough. The regulator capacity I'm not. In open loop (anything but WOT) the PCM will compensate anyway for too rich condition. At worst you'll be too rich at WOT which you already probably are anyway.
