I'll try to be as specific since I hate reading "help" posts that are very vague. Last weekend I drove home (about 100 miles) and noticed that my blinky A/F gauge was NOT blinky. So I pulled in and let the car time down and went inside. The next morning it started up(running a little rough but nothing out of ordinary since it was cold out. Later that day I got code 51. Well taking Dino and Fast420 advices I found an exhaust leak b/w the cat and downpipe. I put a gasket in there and now it's just barely leaking(not enough for me to worry about) Here comes the strange shit now. The car runs like ass! Worse now than before. I pulled plugs and low and behold I got oil in just one cyl. Did a compression test after waiting awhile and got reasonable readings from all cyl. My buddy that I work w/ said he'd done a few valve gaskets that cleared up the oil in plug prob. But I still get LEAN on the blinky when she runs. I also get smoke(black). I have replaced both temp. sensors earlier to clear up a diff. code. I'm now stuck w/ intake temp sensor or ????? Throw some ideas out and maybe I can get my gears turning but I'm stuck right now.

Have you tried resetting your ECU?
Didn't you say that you had disconnected your O2 sensor a while back to fix a wiring issue? I've found that if it has been disconnected, the ECu will not read it and will treat it as if it is not there until it is reset. Sounds like you're getting a lean code and running pig rich.

reset the bastard twice. You hit it though w/ running rich as balls. Backfires the whole V8 nastiness when thy get rich. The blinky still registers red though. I did solder the wires from the downstream (cut the melted plug out). I pretty sure I got the wires straight. If I didn't wouldn't I get a too high/low volt O2 code? I get no code when engine is running. I'm all sorts confused!

Maybe your O2 sensor is shot. The symptoms match up.. Low voltage outputm running rich as balls, fouling plugs, etc..

Well it couldn't hurt. Actually when I looked in there(oh BTW it's O2 in the front NOT downstream) the sensor is bent from resting on the AC compressor. Does that front one really give most of the signal? I would think so since the 2nd is for emission/OBDII crap. Would the dealer be able to sell me a pigtail so I can put a plug back into the O2 wiring or should I just match up the wires like I did and resolder the new one in?

It might be that you soldered the wires...
I cut my EGT wires when I was replacing the A-pillar and soldered them back together and the gauge didn't work. Might just want to replace the entire o2 sensor unit...makes things easier that way.
