#11642, "car actin up! HELP"

was on my way home from work and when I'm in first and accelerating, it will kind off loose power and stall at 4500rpm,
it will then do the same in second at about 4000rpm and so on(evey time I shift to a higher gear it hessitates at lower and lower rpms)... its like it looses all power and can't reve any higher!
I can definetly hear the boost leak from the EGR. will that little leak do this??
any ideas guys?
need help here.

Considering what the EGR does, it's possible. if the diaphram is blown through and the thing is stuck open, when you start to boost, you're litterally blowing pressurized (exhaust before the turbine tends to run ~2psi higher than your intake charge) exhaust back into your intake. Of course, that may not be it at all. Can you provide some more detail?

don't knwo what else to tell u dino.. it's kind of like as if the engine was drowning.
the sound gets all muffled and it looses power and can't go past the determined rpm depending on the gear that I'm in..
do I replace the daphram or do I just take it out??
could it be that there is too much fuel going in and the car is flooding?
don't have my gauges in right now (long story)

Could be.. without those gauges, you're losing important data that could help in diagnosis.

Do you have a CEL? Any black smoke? What do your plugs look like?

You're OBD2.. So you might want to check the wiring for your fuel cut defenser. You could be getting fuel cut from lack of a clamp on your MAP sensor voltage.

plugs look fine, wiring looks ok also.
I do have a check engine led, but to the bes of my knowledge is from the second o2 sensor(in free air)only turns on when car is running.
tried the key dance and no code comes out.

do you think I should just replace the diaphram?

If you don't want the EGR to work just unplug the vacuum hose on the diaphram and it won't work anymore.

dude, just remove the whole EGR system, you wont miss it... You already have a CEL so no worries there, just another one added to it emoji I have like 10 or 12 CEL's....Remove the whole system, the vac lines, and make block off plates out of sheet aluminum or something for the block and the maniffold.

if the hrc mapper 97+ is too low or too high would this cause the car to loose power while driving ( cruising )? recently i got my 2nd hrc mapper each time i start it up goes from 3.5v-4.45v while in boost, im starting to think this is why my car lost all power on the freeway just in vacumm? and my check engine light flashed etc
thanks

Funny, my 97 will do the key dance just fine. What made you think it only worked on 95's and 96's?

it doesn't work for 98 and 99. 95-97 it works just fine.
