what kind of EGT's are you guys getting on the highway, just cruising...

I like to set the cruise control at 79...wondering what kind of temps should be expected on a long drive (3-4+ hrs) with a hahn stage 1...

Well I was kinda wonder what others are getting too. Here are my #'s and I just drove from MN to FL (24 Hours) Cruizing @ 79 I was around 720-750 (1328-1382). Up hills I hit 790 (1454). Down hills it would be around 700 (1292).

Greg, I'm really close to you. I didn't take as precise of readings as you, but I do remember, depending ont he geography, that the EGT's could vary anywhere from 1250-1450 or so.

I was surpised it got that hot going up hills.

80MPH cruise, 4 hours, 1300* flat.

man...mine were all over the place, and to high..Will going to a bigger exhaust and adding an intercooler bring the temps down?

mine, on a 5 hr drive, cruise at 79 were never below 1370 (except downhills or if i let off completely, then it go to 1200-1250 or so, which seems normal), hung around 1400-1450 most of the time and would hit 1500+ uphill emoji emoji...might have gone higher but i kept getting scared and turned off the cruise whenever the temps neared that 1500 mark. the tranny (AT) doesnt downshift uphill anymore since theres more power available and doesnt have to downshift to maintain speed, so in 4th uphill at 79 is probably a lot of load on the engine...the egts would actually level out if i just gunned it instead of letting the cruise do its thing

I also run pig rich, like bumper is black rich. is it possible to have afterburn while not at WOT?

Before i removed my EGR pipe i would run at 1450* at cruise, 1500 WOT. Yes, a better IC and free-er flowing exhaust will help bring your EGTs down.

So removing the EGR lowered your EGT's alot? It makes sense, but I didn't know it would make that big of a change. If I can drop 150 degrees by shutting down the EGR, then I'll do it tomorrow.

My AT never downshifts anymore either. It always stays in the higher gears and lugs the engine alot. I think this has something to do with my really low MAP output (S-AFC). It thinks that there is less of a load on the engine and stays in the high gear. I end up boosting just to get up the mountain, when it could have just dropped down a gear. It really irritates me around town with the hills. Its always trying to drive up a hill at 1400 rpm and I end up knocking if I don't drop it down a gear. One of these days I'll finally get the car completly sorted out...but no time soon.

My car runs cooler at 75 than it does at 60ish. I got a 300rpm window somewhere around 60ish where I run 1490 at cruise. speed up past the window and it drops. At 80mph crusing I'm at 1450deg.

At highway speeds I normally see 1200-1250 on my EGT gauge with the probe mounted in the dp. This should translate to 1400-1450 degrees. Uphills I have to let off the gas and go about 60mph in order to keep the EGTs below 1500.

My EGT's are as follows. My probe is setup at the #4 cylinder port about 1" down from the head..

Idle: between 800-850
Regular driving: between 1000-1250
Hard driving: 1300-1600

I had my egt hooked up before i went boosted while i was N/A and my readings are exactly the same (maybe a bit more touchy) except if i hit it HARD going down a quarter mile it will get 1500+ whereas in N/A mode it would never get there.
