#11272, "how many miles is too many before adding a turbo?"

This summer im going to buy a 2g GS and was wondering how many miles was too many to add a turbo. It will have between 60k-95k on it. Should i do a rebuild? replace anything? Im a n00b, so how much would that cost?

simply rebuild the internals and you'll be golden, there are plenty of peeps running over 100,000 miles with turbo and so far no problems

put turbo on at 57,500 miles and no stuff like internals or anything, been good for 2000 miles so far!!! i think there are a lot more ppl on this board that have put the turbo on with more miles and no internals and doing fine.

every engine is different. you can boost wel over a 100k. you have to do a compression test and see what your internals are lookin like before you boost or the turbo will greatly accellerate your engine's ass kicking

compression test tells all. installed the turbo at like 70k now I'm at 90k. Still kickin hard! I've always had lower compression for some reason though...

you will be fine. My turbo is being finished up today and I have 66K on my engine and Stan (who is installing mine now) had a lot of miles on his also but then again he had forged pistons. My other friend has 86K on his RS and has had the turbo on it for 8k and still is running fine daily driven.
