1 170

2 175

3 185

4 185
Now numbers 3 and 4 are closer to the rest but #1 is still low. I had the car nice and warm again. I put some oil in cylinders 1 & 2 and ran the test again,

1 185

2 175

Well looks like I have some blowby in #1, #2 is a little lower than the rest, not by much but the oil didn't help it at all so it must be okay. What do you guys think, Total Seal rings?

so we both now agree that your rings in #1 are kindda bad.

here are your options.

-don't bother about the rings right now until you save up and rebuild the whole bottom end with higher compression pistons.
- take the head and the tranny off, drope your crank shaft, and replace all rings ( I really don't see why you would wanna go throw all that just to change the rings tho )

if I were you, I would just leave it as is (you will just have to watch your oil level once in a while because you might be burnning oil) until you are ready for the rebuild with new pistons and rods.

HAHAHAH!!!! Might be! emoji I go through a qt per week. Mitsu would not fix it under warranty either. I cost the local dealership almost $9000!! They don't like me (except the actual mechcanic that did the work, he's kinda cool) They told me that Mitsu of America says any oil loss under 1 qt per 1000 miles is not a warranty problem. Now that I am out of my warranty I have a real main seal leak and my 1 1/16" oil sender is leaking. Even before I had the oil leaks, I would go through that much oil. I just know I have to add oil once a week. I need to buy some stock in Castrol. emoji

Now here's another ? Why were numbers 3 & 4 lower today? The car was hot like it should be both days. What else could be different?

while you are doing the test, do you crank it untill the gauge does not climb up any more, or you crank it like 5 times then stop. also where you pression on the gas pedal when you were doing the test on both times. things like that might make your readings vary.

Did you ever do the leak down test to find out if it was bad valves? It might be, even though Im not the expert I have had some trouble with valves on other cars..If your getting a lot smoke and not fouling any plugs its a good guess that the oils not getting into your combustion chambers. Leakdown test here will give you the info you need...I saw the vid of your breakaway and noticed the blue smoke then as well and valves or valveseals were my first guess then...Oh ya on that video..I was impressed with how fast you broke outa that corner so I showed it to Mrs Hellhound...She now has given me the go ahead to do alot more work to the clipse cause of it. HEHE..So I guess I should be saying thanks as well.
Hope this helps...and good luck
Hellhound

The Valves and head are almost brand new so I hope these aren't the problem. . .

I do have some smoke but it's mostly extra rich smoke because I have no Cat. I run so rich that I back fire sometimes after a long 3rd gear pull. I can make it shoot fire with the MSD and the 2 step rev limit.

When I look at my plugs there is a lot of whiteness to the end of them and the V electrode on the NGK burns down after like 6000 - 8000 miles. I guess I do go through plugs a lot. I am running NGK BKR6-11e I think. I know the number is 6 but the rest I am unsure of. Maybe I need to use different plugs too.
