I know this sounds really stupid, but I bought my Star Stage II kit used from a member here years ago and it was missing some stuff. I finally got around to installing it recently and I could have swore the kit should have came with a fuel cut defender, but I can't seem to locate it. Does the Star kit come with one? If so, what does it look like? Maybe I overlooked it.

Anyone know anyone who can help me tune this in the Pittsburgh area (Greensburg)?

I went to Google and typed in "Star stage 2 Turbo Kit"

This is on DSM Tuners site maybe they could tell you what the Electronic Fuel Componants are that are listed?

Manufacturer: Star
Product: Stage 2 Kit
MSRP: $2,799.00
(MSRP is typically higher than most shop prices)

Complete turbo kit includes:

T3/T4 Turbonetics Hybrid Turbo Charger
Vortech FMU (Fuel Pressure Riser)
Turbo Exhaust Manifold
2.75" Downpipe (connects at Catalytic Converter)
Chrome Piping with Beaded ends for solid connections
Oil Lines/Tees Adapters need for plumbing
Deltagate Wastegate Mark II
High pressure in-tank Fuel Pump
Electronic Fuel Componants ( I wonder what this is??)
Star Performance Front Mount Intercooler System
Intercooler Chrome piping with beaded ends
SPI Boost Gauge
HKS STD BOV
Electronic Fuel Componants Raise crankshaft power output to about 280hp with 9-10psi of boost.

Here is stage 1 for reference:

Manufacturer: Star
Product: Stage 1 Kit
MSRP: $1,899.00
(MSRP is typically higher than most shop prices)

Complete kit includes:

T3/T4 Turbonetics Hybrid Turbo Charger
Vortech FMU (Fuel Pressure Riser)
Turbo Exhaust Manifold
2.75 inch Downpipe (connects at Catalytic Converter)
Chrome Piping with Beaded ends for solid connections
Oil Lines/Tees Adapters need for plumbing
Deltagate Wastegate Mark II
High pressure in-tank Fuel Pump
Electronic Fuel Componants ( none listed??)Raise crankshaft power output to about 200hp with 5-7psi of boost.

If you use a FCD what do you guys use to deal with timing as boost rises?

FCD = map clamp (I dont like the way these seem to work, seems like a band aid)
FMU = added fuel (I dont like the way these seem to work, seems like a band aid)
??? = timing

A candle burning on both ends is twice as bright but lasts half as long.

I have a Star Stage II kit, which I googled and found what you did and little more. Unfortunately, that doesn't help very much. What do you recommend for preventing fuel cut? For fuel management, right now I have the Vortech FMU (no clue what disc) and ford red-top 310cc injectors... and of course the Wally 255 pump.

Anyone know anyone who can help me tune this in the Pittsburgh area (Greensburg)?

Well it really depends on what your goals are.

Are you using stock internals?
It looks like you have some decent tranny upgrades.

I personally hate the piggy back, band-aid approach to tuning.

I know in most cases, it is more cost effective in the short term to use things like FMU, FCD and stuff like that. But you get no true tuning ability. Its more like hoping that what worked for some one else will work for you or at least be acceptable. The whole idea of lying to the ECU about boost and throwing block amounts of fuel at the motor hoping it blends well with the secret boost you are pushing with out any form of timing control seems silly to me....maybe thats just me though.

My honest opinion would be:
Mega Squirt "Fuel Control"
Wide Band "AFR Monitor"
Aeromotive FPR
450 injectors /w resistor pack for 10-12psi (tuning is key)

Then once you get comfortable with controlling fuel, add Spark Control With mega Squirt.

As for a port fueler??? Hmmm....not to take away from the research and development that they have put into there "product" but we can do everything that thing does with the aforementioned items at a lower cost.

Tuning is tuning there are no real secrets to it, you need fuel, air and spark under control and then you can control the outcome.

Now, I know that there will be those who will say that "so and so" has made "such and such" accomplishments with FMU and FCD blah blah blah...But, you asked for "MY" opinion.

I have 8.8:1 compression forged internals in the bottom end, top end is stock. My goals are 300-350 HP max. I want to keep it at least semi-reliable so I don't want to push the limits too much. Most of the time I'd probably only run around 8-10 psi boost and maybe dial it up once things are tuned to perfection.

Eventually, I probably will get a MS ECU, but I'm already changing so much all at once that I'd like to just get it running first.

Oh, and I already have an Innovate 3844 MTX-L wideband AFR Gauge.
