#109210, "Log Style Manifold Downpipe Starting point"

Thought I'd post this as a starting point for those looking to make their own downpipe when using the Star style manifold since the downpipe is usally one of the last and most intricate pieces due to the welding required when installing a turbo on our cars. The measurements show the size of the uncut pipes I used and will have to be cut to size depending on your setup. Missing from the diagram are the flanges for connecting to the Turbo housing and to the Cat converter. ALL pieces shown on the Diagram were purchased from http://www.siliconeintakes.com/:

<a href="http://s284.photobucket.com/albums/ll25/rr90002/?action=view¤;t=ExhaustPartsUncut.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Parts used were as below:

1 x 2.5" Stainless Steel Exhaust/Intake Flex Section - 8" Long (EXH000865)
4 x 1' Mandrel Bent Stainless Steel 45° Bend, 2.5" (SIL000838)
1 x 2' Mandrel Bent Stainless Steel 90° Bend, 2.5" (SIL001580)
1 x 2.5" Mild Steel V-Band Clamp Rings (Set of 2) (CLA000324)
1 x 1' Mandrel Bent Stainless Steel 90° Bend, 2.5" (SIL000844)

Hope this is of some help to those just starting out...

How about making one of these for the exhaust system so we can build our own 2.5 or 3 inch units?

Sure thing. I'll take measurements over the weekend and start a new post with that info.

Yes, 3" would be nice. I never really understood why Star chose an oddball size like 2.75" anyway.

Anyone know anyone who can help me tune this in the Pittsburgh area (Greensburg)?

Slightly different but you should still be able to use the same design.
