ok so my winter project is about done and i just want to share it with the 420a community . i have a 420a converted to rwd and it is being placed into an 85 rx7 chassis . i am running a clutchnet custom 3 puck clutch , r154 trans ,and 03 jeep wrangler 2.4 bellhousing .

Was the supercharger one of the um this maybe cool ideas? It looks pretty cool tho the neon intake is weird to see on that motor over all I want to see how this ends and nice work.

Finish? What is this "finish" you speak of sir? Dsm's are never complete just temporarily put together.

its not a neon intake its the eclipse lower runners and i built the plenum 70mm throttle body and all the plenum parts where ordered from ross machine racing and i just machined out the bottom of plenum for our runners . the supercharger is an eaton m90 and it is a future plan . i just havent built the adapter plate yet or a pully and tensioner . i have two of the superchargers tho and will sell one of them . just make offer plus shipping .

ok this might sound crazy but i just picked up a holset turbo for realy cheap like 50 dollars and it came with a new bearing and seals . well i have been doing lots of research on compound charging with turbos and i think im going to use my air research to spool up the holset and do the twin turbo setup . realy interested in how it will work . i know spool time wont be very bad since the will be helping each other spool up . what do yall think?

There are quite a few cars there that are DSM engines in different bodies, nothing wrong with that. As far as compound turbo chargers, they are bad ass, but hard finding a clutch that can handle the gigantic power numbers that low in the RPM, look at paul Volk's dyno.

sweet i will try to come but no promise's yet i am running a clutch net custom 3 puck clutch and center force pressure plate increased 80% . and the trans is out of a 87 Toyota supra turbo , trans code r154. jeep wrangler 4wd bell housing. the wrangler and liberty from 03-04 2.4l4 2wd and 4wd bell housing bolts directly to our 420a block . keep questions coming lol.

why not use the jeep trans then? and turbo or non turbo supra?

i ask cause im thinking of trying to convert my GS to rwd

OHHH and what clutch and flywheel set up could i use?

Jeep tranny not as strong as supra trans and turbo model you will need to run a neon fly wheel and pressure plate and disk that will fit the spline of transmission and the flyeheel of the 420a. Love to see it done

there is a guy turbododge that swapped a 2.4 rwd into a 1977 celica. he used a m5 tranny out of a chevy colorado, with a hyd tob setup.

my 2g is in eclipse heaven now lol due to dumb ass ford drivers ... and an embankment chassis was tweaked . and the m5 is ok but the r154 is superior .

might have to make it a future project lol he he .. but for now the rz7 chassis was a simple one to mod for this engine trans combo but mabey after a good tune a donor 2g tube chassis would be cool .

Different that's for sure I'm new to posting but have been lurking for a bit did you go thru the motor change anything like pistons or bore or anything and have you changed compression at all, sorry if I sound like a #### I'm new to the whole car modding thing lol

It's called 'twin-charging.' Lancia popularized the process in their old rally cars. Yes, anything is possible. Most folks generally opt for one or the other, because of the maddening complexity added with twincharging. To my knowledge no one with a 420a 2g has done this.

Haters will hate just let them, I think the build is awesome and provides great info for others that want to do something like this.

Did you have to modify anything to get the trans to fit right? ive heard that you need to machine the bell housing like half inch to make it fit righ

What other info can you give us on how you got the trans and bellhousing to all fit properly? Any clearance issues inside the bellhousing? Does the trans bolt directly to the bellhousing no problem?

That is absolutly fucking awesome.... The best mod ive seen with that engine. But what would be even more insane is taking the 420a, and making a rwd possible in the 2g body..... long shot, but it would throw people for a damn loop.
