#106973, "Best way to DELETE stock FPR"

I was wondering what the best way to get that regulator out would be. I have a 97 gs and I wanted to run SS maybe 4an up to the rail with a universal filter. But I noticed that there was kind of a restrictor plate or something as the fuel comes out of the filter. The piece with two female fittings. One for the supply and one for the regulator and you cant stick a bolt in it to far.

I want to do stainless steel lines supply and return but I searched and read that some people with turbos ran 500hp on stock supply... Im looking for 400hp I have a Honeywell Garret 60 trim and 1;1 afpr, and going msns and all supporting mods.. So if I can just get rid of the stock regulator and run my 1:1 right outta the fuel rail would the stock line be good?

show me cars that run 500hp with stock supply without messing something up. if your going 1:1 you will need 6an, 4an will not work for the best.

Yeah the higher your pressure the lower your flow rates will be and just the opposite for lower pressures. Basically without doing all the match you need, just go with -6an.

The Turbo guys are running 500hp on factory lines so i think 6an is a well considered upgrade and will flow enough for you.

Factory supply line is 5/16.". -4 AN is 1/4" so you would be stepping down. Why?

If you are running a 1:1 you should not be implementing the factory FPR. With your setup why would you run two FPRs on the fuel system?

At the minimum you should run -6 AN (3/8") if you plan on redoing your fuel system - otherwise you are wasting your time/money.

EDIT: But to address your topic - remove your stock filter/FPR assembly and run an aftermarket filter between the pump and rail. Then run a line from back of your rail to the 1:! and on to the return line.

There are several ways to do away with the stock FPR however if you plan on running new lines then the above method will be easy.

There is a great write up on this alreaday. It is under the mods/tech link at the top of any page.
6 -AN seems the only logical way to upgrade your fuel system to me. Of all the upgrades I have done, I would say this was probably the easiest and least time consuming. Just make sure you lay everything out before you start putting it on the car.

Built block.
Refinished head.
Tuned suspension.
TURBO.

Yeah.. It doesn't seem hard. Are you running 6an as your return to?

Yes. Rather than having to buy two different sizes of line, I just kept it simple and went with 6-AN all around. Also, 6 -an is what fits nicely on the little schrader valve on the end of the rail.

Did you make pieces to fit on the pump housing lines? The supply has thread, it looks bigger than 6an.

I just slid the 6 -an line over the pump discharge. It's a 255 walbro, but all the lines are factory sizes. I wish I had pictures.. anyhow, for reassurance I used 2 hose clamps on it. It's been like that for about 3 years now. No problems.

Have you clicked on the "Mods & Tech Info" link yet following it to the fuel system section? It lays it all out very nicely. In fact, it says 4 -AN for the return line in there which is what I must have used because I followed that to a 'T'.
Give it a read.

Ok bro. I read it, understand alot better now. 6an for my supply and 4an for my return.. Idk if I read correctly or not but I think it says just to take the SS lines and run it over the fitting on the pump supply and just clamp it down? Same for return..But it looks like the pic says "hose barb connections" Where can I pick them up at?

Are you speaking of the stock fuel rail? Because that is -4 AN if I remember.

There are many factory turbo cars still using a 5/16 factory feed line and pushing the envelope for over 500whp.

Its no secret....go search the net.
