#106579, "Having RS-T Issues, Please Help"

Hey guys,

I've been having some wierd problems with my setup recently. Whenever I am in first and have my foot on the pedal all the way, I build boost somewhat slowly, then as soon as I shift to 2nd, I have 7lbs of boost already there; instant boost, which then forces me to shift to 3rd and I am losing a TON of potential power there. Can someone help me out with this?

Also, I have one other problem: for a short while, I disconected my FMIC because I needed some custom piping, so I routed my turbo straight to my intake manifold, but I reconnected my FMIC and now I am getting near constant compressor surge whenever my BOV is supposed to go off (BOV does go off, but anything below 5lbs of boost is all compresor surge and no BOV). Any ideas guys? I could really use any help I can get. Thanks guys.

~Alex

The first issue is definitaly sounding like a boost leak, and the second one would acurr if you were leaking boost as well since it doesnt need to pop off the bov since its leaking somewhere releiving pressure ,Makes sense to me.Did you do a boost leak test?

i'm confused... in first you boost slow, then shift to 2nd and have full boost instantly and up to redline when you shift into 3rd? or what exactly 'forces' you to shift? Not really sure what you're asking on that.

Your compressor surge might be bov flutter, also. If it's really annoying you, and you're able, cut off some of the spring (or get a weaker one) in your BOV, just pressure check it afterward to make sure you won't leak at higher boost levels. what type BOV? It may be designed to work from 10-15 or so

@ spool420, I havent done a boost leak test, but I shall as soon as I get a minute of free time (finals week), but all of my couplers and pipes seem fine just by looking at them, but then again, theres more than meets the eye lol

@justins71, off the line, i build boost at a normal rate and reach 7lbs in about 4sec and then redline, then 2nd gear comes and my boost is already at 7lbs of boost, but my RPMs are not in the red...or anywhere near it. The RPMs are usually around 3500-4000 when i shift into 2nd, and the wierd thing is that it doesnt feel like any boost is being made, it feels like there is no power and my foot is to the floor on my gas pedal, this makes me shift to 3rd, where i CAN build some power and then the turbo builds boost like normal.
