#106066, "SRT-4 Swap?"

I was talking to a well known and respected DSM mechanic in my area yesterday, and he was pretty insistent that I do not turbo my 420A. He claimed every single one he's seen done has inevitably broken. I didn't argue with him, you know how it is with the 4G63 purists. However, he did mention something that caught my attention-- he claims he has seen a couple 2GNT's with full SRT-4 swaps in them. Call me crazy but I don't even think the SRT trans will fit in the car with the engine, isn't it quite a bit larger? And what about axles? What about engine management and the stock gauges?

Basically.. has anyone seen this done and does anyone have pics or a link to a build thread? I'm not interested in doing the swap, but curious to see what others have done.

Actually, search wasn't working when I posted that emoji Now that it is, I'm finding a lot of info, but mostly about a 2.4L build based on the cloud car blocks, not a direct swap.

I was asking about personal experiences where you have seen a finished swap, btw. If nothing constructive will come of this thread, mods please close it.

I believe he meant swapping in an srt4 motor wasn't worth it.

420a? Turbo? Blow up? Ya, maybe if people were trying to boost the stock 420a like you can boost the stock 4g63. But a built 420a is better than a 4g63 in my opinion. Unless you want over 500hp, 420a is better.
