As some of you know i just got a Hahn turbo kit and i find myself scratching my head. (Tim dont bash on me yet lol) I have looked through shit load of old forums and even looked through every single article ( im so glad i did, shit ton of cool stuff. good jod 2gers). I mostly see the set up for star and other Custom setups but nothing really on hahns. I think i got the fuel system down but some parts of the turbo setup i dont know. i'll have to post pics 2mro what i dont understand. i dont even know what size injecters i have or what the internal wastgate is set at. . i emailed the seller but he has still yet to respond.

I dont want to be the one bashing you but you really need to do more research and understand how a turbo and all of the parts work. Either way there is more out there than you can imagine....good luck on it and keep us posted with any progress and questions...

even though its a "complete turbo kit", well designed as one anyway ...

if you treat your application as a "custom" setup your parts and understanding will come together easier.
although with a custom setup there are generally Too many options but they are all connected, read on.
the next reason for the change in thinking is because there is tuning required to get the 420a up to par when adding a turbo kit, some theory and background on turbochargers, fuel systems, and engine management is required.

best reference out there:
Corky Bell's, Maximum Boost. (2nd edition)

available at any book store as well as e-bay.
now after you read that, you will see a list start to form. now this list is VERY general and non specific. Turbo, Wastegate, Manifold, Downpipe, Oiling supply and return, Fuel supply, etc after you have made that generic list you can go through parts you want and fill in the blanks for what ya need / have (insert Hahn parts here).
then the previously generic list starts to take form FOR YOUR SPECIFIC APPLICATION (Sweet huh?!) and you can also see what you need to find or make decisions about, and you can also see places where you might want to upgrade something.
when your done you should have a complete custom setup with the parts you need and you will know the reasons why you selected those parts and how they will all go together.

now, if you need help, you can start posting about specific items, ie "my goal is 8psi and a DD, do you guys recommend the SMU or SFMU for my application?" that will get you better and more specific answers (that will actually help you) from us then by saying "hey what fuel setup do i need to go turbo?" this way we can help you out with the little technical aspects of your setup.

this way, you don't have to know the wastegate settings from the previous owner, as your gonna reset the whole thing anyway for your setup.

im looking at the apexi safc,vafc, and avcr. im guessing the Safc is better than the V because its has (S) for super but the avcr can control the boost. is the avcr the same as the Safc but the boost option? is this need or want to have? what is that extra port in the manifold for? temp reading? what is this part for??(in first pic)

2006 gsxr 750- jardine gp1 exhaust, -1,+2 stealth sprockets, DID 525 chain, JD products pro TRE. 0-60 in a sneeze. ran a 10.8 avg 1/4 mile my first time to the track on street tires, stock swingarm and unstrapped.

i want to run 8 pounds for now so this is my set up. the fuel set up with everything i need from the article. the walbro 255(do you think i should go with the high flow) 12:1 fmu and stock injectors. 60mm modern per. from my understanding in the 97's you have to place the fmu right next to the fuel tank? is there a way that i can just mount it in the engine bay (more fuel lines?) this is like a basic setup just to get it going.

That is exactly what I just got done installing last weekend but still need the downpipe made which I will be going to the exhaust shop monday to have them make me one.

12:1 fmu is mounted in the back. There isnt a whole lot of space back there but if youre just a little creative you can come up with a spot. I can take a pic of mine if you want me to. This way you only need about 3-4ft of fuel line depending on where you mount the fmu. You will however, need to run a vacuum line to the engine bay but this isnt too hard. Again, I can take a pic if you need but this is pretty basic. Yes, keep the stock injectors with the 12:1. My wastegate has a 7psi spring in it and no boost controller so I am relying on the wastegate to limit my boost of which I havent seen yet without the exhaust on.

Oh, and yes go with the high pressure model being that they are the same price anyway from what I have seen. You will probably never need another fuel pump once you get that done. You dont need an install kit either unless it comes with it. Keep the stock fpr. Just get rid of the fuel line on it because you will most likely need a new longer line depending on where you put the fmu. I will take some pics tomorrow when I am out there.

you said 8 psi for now, does this mean that you are looking to go 15+ w/ MSnS eventually?

if so i would think about how you are doing your setup NOW.
with MS you change to a 1:1 rising rate FPR.
now if you go ahead and run 2 lengths of -6AN fuel line NOW, then you just have to exchange your FPR's out when you go up in boost.

it sucks to do one project then completely tear most of it out with the next one because of a lack of forward thinking.

also keeping Vac lines shorter and closer to the source reduces the chance for leakage and makes trouble shooting easier, especially the more complicated your setup becomes.

note: if you go to SS lines you will can bypass the stock fpr and filter completly. if you do this you MUST add an EFI compliant inline fuel filter.

as far as your wastegate settings. as i said before it doesn't matter what its set at now, because you will change the setting when you do your tuning phase. now if you don't know because its a knock off external one, then who knows if they used the right colors / size spring or what not. if you don't know how to tune a wastegate then i suggest you read more.

Im at 7 psi with a 12:1 fmu.. I believe the max is about 9ish with stock injectors and that would be overkill. And yes your fmu gets replaced since you are raising the fuel rate.

I dont see the need for them. You can if you want but the stock lines held up for 180k miles or so and 12yrs so I think it will be good for a while. Plus its cheaper in case you decide to upgrade to a different fuel setup (which is my plan in the long run but I want to enjoy driving it for a while rather than looking at it. ha)

^^ rubber fuel lines are ok just make sure you get stuff that is rated for 100+ psi.

the only thing that would suck it that i would have to run a vac line way back there.....why is this write up using the stock fuel line after the universel filter? dont you have to change that out as well?

First thing is that setup is using an SFMU of which is different from an FMU. The other thing is that I believe that is using the early style fuel system which has the return coming from the rail as opposed to just one line.

No you dont have to do anything with the filter or the fuel line to the filter unless you just want to change it for the hell of it.

just bought the Sfmu

i bought the SFMU (for 100) so i dont have to put it in the back. I have a 97 so its returnless so now this would be a little easier to install than the reg fmu. still have to get he arp, fuel pump and hoses and fittings.

Well, i have everthing but a wideband and at this point i ran out of cash so i'll have to wait a little longer to install everything. i hate waiting, it sucks. i soon hope to feel that boost.

Go ahead and do it! The FMU setup is proven, you should be alright without a wideband for a while.
