#105891, "Wanting to buy a star stage 2 for my setup, will it work?"

Got a quick question, I want to buy a star stage 2 setup for my car, but I have rebuilt my car at 10.5:1 with Crower 2 cams. Can I just install it with that compression and cams? Or will the higher compression not be good? And would the cams create a fuel pressure problem (vacuum at idle)??

Added duration in the cam profile bleeds off static compression through overlap. An HRC Stage 2 kit on your car with proper fueling and reasonable boost will function as designed.

I'll leave 'reasonable boost' as a function of your imagination, just like it is for everyone else.

Aint that the truth.

So basically if I had stock cams, the star stage 2 would work with the fmu it comes with and the higher compression wouldn't be an issue? Thanks for the reply.

You can use the cams you have now, although most people who are boosted seem to really like the stock cam. As far as the compression goes, there are quite a few people on here who are boosted with 10.5:1 compression. It's just a matter of tuning, you've got more of a margin for error with lower compression.

Oh and just an fyi you are aware that the star kit is no longer made correct? If you want new it's piece together your own, hahn or treadstone

Yeah, actually I just noticed that the star kit was no longer made last night. So, the Hahn stage 2 comes with the portfueler. Would I have any trouble running that with what I have? Would I just let them know what I have done to my car and they would made a base map for me or something???? If I need to put stock cams and 8.8:1 pistons in my car for the sake of making things very simple, that's no problem for me. I just want the most user friendly and least worries possible. Thanks helping me.

Edit: One more thing, what exactly do I need to have before the Hahn stage 2? Do I "need" a wideband? Fuel pressure gauge? Also, where can I get a list of everything that comes in a hahn stage 2???

Portfueler is about as user friendly as it gets as long as you have a wideband o2 gauge. They will put a base map on the portfueler module based on what you want. I think 10-12psi would do you good with high compression but it depends on your supporting mods. The stage 2 does not come with the portfueler though. It is extra.....alot extra. Paid $1200 for mine put i got everything they offer with the kit. I have the stage 2 crower cams also on mine. You will be fine with what you have now, with a good, safe tune.
