#105594, "Starting my turbo project"

Hey everyone whats up.. im slowly starting my turbo project. after reading GSgoinfast's post on installing his turbo that just helped out sooo much. especially the part that shows how to make it so only a low amount of boost pumps out. Right now i am looking at a t3 garret turbo. The only thing i really got lost on in his post was about installing the FMU were theres 2 lines that goto it i just kinda got lost on were they go... gotta do some more research on that but everything else i can do. and the oil feed lines too thats also what i need to research about too. but within 2 month maybe 3 ill have all the parts and ready to go. If anyone has any hints or tips just let me know it would be cool.

Completely Stock except my cone filter instead of a airbox.

I'm glad my writeup could help emoji Now which part about the FMU did you not understand? There are 2 fuel lines that connect to the FMU. Basically what you do is remove the return line that runs from your stock fpr to the fuel pump/tank. Then you run a line from the fpr to the fmu, then from the fmu to where the old line went on the tank. So basically if the stock line was long enough, you could just cut it and Tee the fmu into it, but because it is not long enough you need to get new line. I hope that helps you understand, ask any specific questions you want. Good luck

2 suggestions:

1. start posting turbo questions in the correct TURBO forum.

2. if you choose to turbo, dont go cheap w/ anything. do it all right the first time!

yeah definatly post your turbo stuff in the turbo section, if the word turbo is in your post at all than that should be a good indication of where it needs to be. Yes that turbo write up is a very useful tool, i used it on my set up and it was better than the original instructions. Also just because you are buying the best doesnt mean you gotta spent more money. I was able to put most of my kit together fairly cheep because i bought alot of used quality parts and they are still ticking. Stay away from crappy names or the unknown, you can get alot of quality parts from this site as well as ebay and other dsm sites around the country, search and you will find.
just my 2 cents

yes. It raises fuel pressure under boost. Your adding a lot more air, without adding more fuel to the mix with using an fmu you will run really lean and blow your motor very quickly. It's very necessary

There is a vacuum signal for the fmu so it raises the pressure at a predetermined rate for each pound of boost the fmu sees. You will want to start with a 12:1 fmu so it will increase fuel pressure 12psi for every pound of boost

I contributed to the Wiki!
EVO IX - just a really expensive boost gauge and a K&N air filter
96 Eclipse RS -awaiting registration and inspection
95 Eclipse GS - parts car

The search will have these answers. I know this for a fact because... I asked the same questions a while ago, and got some help and some search replies lol.
