#105498, "My wife wanted me to turbo her 2gnt :)"
Oct-30-06 12:32 PM by wildside

This is my first post after lurking for a long time.

I have been building fwd/awd turbo eclipse for 6 years.

I have my own web site where I sell my own parts and recently my wife wanted her 95 2gnt turbo charged so I dove right in.

One thing I found funny was the fuel rail was cored.

I removed the inside core and added an external regulator and was wondering why no one else talked about this (I couldnt find anyone talking about it)

The other interesting thing I am doing is putting an evo8 turbo on the car and have modified the megan evo 8 manifold to fit the 420a.

Here is some of the things I am doing to her car tell me what ya think.

Evo8 16g

K580M885 Wiseco 1995-02 420A - 8.8:1 - .040 Over Bore Forged Pistons

CRS5472N3D Eagle 1995-02 420A Engine H-Beam Connecting Rods - Length 5.472"

64414-2 Stage 3 Crower camshafts - Race, rough idle.

84176 - KIT SINGLE SPRING & TI RETAINERS

MLS head gasket

ARP head studs

ARP mains

255 fuel pump

MSD DIS II

MSD Coil

MSD Wires

-8 fuel lines

Modified Fuel Rail

IMWINNING Fuel computer

IMWINNING Intake Manifold

IMWINING/Meagen turbo manifold

IMWINNING ported head

IMWINNING IC piping

Front mount intercooler

Full exhaust

and much much more.....

here are a few pics.

anyway I just wanted to say hi to you guys/gals emoji

Sounds damn good... good luck getting that turbo + manifold to fit. Is it just me or is the shortblock, intake mani, and thermostat housing pink? If it actually is pink, that is badass lol

yes the total engine is custom painted by me with pink and purple paint and that valve cover is 8 shade cham paint.

I took the megan manifold exhaust plate off and made a cnc plate based off the exhaust mani for the 420a onto it.

I have already hung the turbo on the engine itself and with some minor work it now clears everything on the block just fine.

Yes my wife is awesome this all started with her telling me that she wanted her car to make that sweet sound pshhhhh and this is what I have come up with.

here is my site
www.imwinning.com

here is her car (the main pic is photoshop of what we are doing to the outside.)

My wife actually wanted that put on her built GS-T! I had a green on there and it was too far (full spool @ 4700. She ran to about 3200 then shifted) for her to get it on spool up. So she said she just wanted the sound. Sacrilege! LOL!

the stock fuel rail inlet actually runs all the way to the other end where the stock FPR allows it to flow into the main part of the rail b4 it draines out the return line.

I removed the inlet core and attached an aftermarket regulator on the return line just like it is on my 4g63.

The result is a huge fuel distribution plenum regulated by the external FPR.

(in case your wondering i have been doing custom fab for about 10 years now)

It doesn't. Without looking, I'd imagine one of them is that AVCR or VPC deal. I've seen them pretty prevalent in the GVR4 community, but I don't go too deeply into the 4G63 tech sections on Tuners to know how common they are these days now that DSMlink is so popular.

I'd suggest you rethink the cams, though. You're going to get so much overlap on those C3s that you're going to be wasting a lot of boost just passing through like the high plains drifter. You could dial some of the overlap out, but then you're sort of negating the benefits of having such aggressive cams. Crower does have a stage 2 turbo grind. You can get more info on the specs of that profile at Exile Racing.

Glad to have you posting. We're happy you've spent time lurking, but you can imagine how much more we like to see those people who have answers and experience sharing their information with the community. In fact, you might look at it as a way of building your company reputation. emoji

Thanks for sharing.

Im assuming that it's a fuel computer that he's come up with on his own. Is the Evo manifold tubular steel or cast iron? If iron, how did you adapt it to the 420A, you said you took the flange off and made a new one? Did you weld the flange onto the cast iron manifold? Something sounds funky to me.

As far as my wifes fuel system We have come up with a setup that allows her to use the safc and msd dis II to handle boost all the way to 25 psi. ( there will be no fmu, sfmu, missing link or any such thing in the car and mega squirt is out also, this is a setup that we built and will be marketting soon.)

Very interesting! What grabs me more is how did you get a 1.4 launch on a FWD? I don't think I've seen that on any FWD's (DSM'S) yet.

What you do, Mark, is attach a giant rubber strap to the 1/8 mile markers and then back the car up to the line. You stage by easing off the brake, then powerbrake off the line on green. It's like a slingshot.

(:shrug It's early.)

That 1G is a real sleeper. At first glance, you would think "ricer" from the body kit and altezzas, but you wouldn't think that for long. Less than ten seconds, imo. Wow.

actually I cry when I look at it, I'd rather go 17s in my old stock 1GNT car then 10s in that....thing.

Also, 10.7 is not less then 10 seconds, its less then 11 seconds.
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time.

Every one has an there own thoughts and thats cool.

Some like my car and some dont but 10.73 is way cooler then 17 anyday of the week in any book.

If you have the go why not work on getting the show too?

Hows that black leather interior treating you?

I wasnt trying to be insulting, but 1Gs are natually ugly (one of the reasons I miss mine) but I havent seen a body kit I like for them yet.... dont get it wrong its not as ugly as a blitz front on a 2G.

10.73 doesnt hold much weight to someone who isnt into drag racing, I was mearly making the point that I'd rather be in a stock 1G-Non Turbo turd then a fast as the wind 1G with a body kit (ANY body kit, not just yours) Also, my 2G actually cant go faster then 17 in the 1/7, it is refreshing that you can accept the fact that your is both fast and ugly.

incase you were wondering I bought my 1G and had the timing belt snap, fixed that mess, the head gasket blew and I got rid of her.

Also, its great youre building up wifey's car, I cant wait to see more about this fuel set up, maybe I can utilize it on my car since I have a built block but still only stage II

The fuel setup we are builing uses the S-afc to control the fuel both in and out of boost.

We are going to use the MSD DIS II to control the timing.

There will be no missing link. mega squirt or stand alone system.

What there will be is a patend pending little black box that we have built.

We have a whole bunch of parts that will be comming up for sale for the 2gnt. ( IMW stutterbox control, IMW soft rev limiters, IMW mini led shift light, IMW electric boost controller,IMW Intake Manifolds (best gains are with turbo but still nice to have on N/A) etc.)

I do not want to step on any ones toes so please let me know what the rules are about selling things on this site.

PS sorry for the delay in my response as we have been moving and things have been hectic to say the least emoji

Yes I will be making a few different versions of the manifold as I run Different turbo setups.

All the items we make are for sale on our site or will be soon.
