i see so many people saying they got egt guage and a/f guage, ain't you supposed to get either or, preferably egt??

The EGT measures your exhaust temperature. The Air/Fuel measures how lean or rich you are running. The A/F is more for tuning and the EGT is for safety. With out an egt you wouldnt know if your car was running too hot and you could go boom!!!

At partial throttle, an a/f gauge is useless. The ECU trims fuel based on sensor input, and the voltage jumps around all over the place. At WOT, it pegs at a certain voltage, and that is how you read it... by what it spits out at WOT.
Now, at any throttle position, your EGT gauge is going to tell you how hot that gas it. The a/f gauge is great for WOT, but the only thing that can really tell you how rich/lean you are at partial throttle is an EGT gauge. It's not a one-or-the-other thing, it's much better to have both, as it makes tuning and diagnosis so much easier.

Unless you are turbo, or nitrous I don't think you need these until you get a S-AFC. To really tune the engine you'll need both. So if you are running on a stock ECU with regular bolt ons I don't see these gauges doing you any good. But if you buy an S-AFC I wouldn't do any adjustments without them. And they are great when you are turbo. But if you just have the basic CAI, UDP, exhaust then an oil pressur egauge would be a far better investment. My opinion anyway.
