I am considering on getting a HRC Turbosystem, and they say that it comes w/ all the nessecary componets. what my question is, if all those who already have it: what additional componets did you have to buy for ur system (bov, boost controller, intercooler... etc)? my second question is, did you install it yourself? if so, then how was it? hard? easy? and how long did it take. if you didn't install it yourself, then i would like to know how much it cost to install it. thank you.

if you get the stage 2 kit it comes with a SMIC and piping.
you should get an A/F gauge and EGT gauge since the kit doesn't include them. also alot of people have had problem with the fuel pressure regulator so you might wanna get a vortec SFMU. and a missing link also.

Rumor has it that the manifold bolts aren't the best. You may want to order the 8mm manifold bolts from RRE and use those instead. The kit already comes with a bov. Its the stock 1ST gen bov which is a very good bov considering its from a stock car. With a little luck Ill be able to let you know how hard the install was by the end of next weekend

i reaqlly think a good saftey precaution is to have electronic fuel and oil guages in the car on a bezel, so you know those two areas of the car are ok at all times. might as well get a turbo timer as well.

Go to the Mitsubishi dealership and buyExhaust manifold studs and nuts from a 4G63.

Actually, it comes with a 3000GT BOV. It's a decent BOV, with a quiet, subtle sound-- but it works.

You will also want a Missing Link (www.group5motorsports.com), a Vortech SFMU, A tank full of premium fuel, new oil, oil filter, exhaust manifold gasket.

i have the stage 1, and all i had to buy was the manifold gasket from the dealer. i'm not a mechanic like most of the members of this site, so i had it installed by pann auto in san diego for 400$, thats a good price..many were asking for 800-1500$ for installation!

by no means do you have to be a mechanic. If you can do your oil. Wire up your stereo. And tighten up some clamps, you can do your own install. I installed my STAR stage II adn that was when I was 17. I have learned a lot more since then.

these are the things i have installed myself, please let me know if you think i can do it.

- Alarm (remote start)
- Stero (speakers, subs and deck)
- street glow
- Short Ram Intak & CAI
- Strobes
- switch to make my reverse lights blink instead of my blinkers
- switch to keep my neons inside constant instead of blinking w/ music
- switch for strobes
- lowered my car
- changed the shocks
- painted my brakes
- and more but i can't think of any rite now

all was done by myself in my own garage cuz i don't really have friends that are into cars much, and if they are, they can't help me much cuz i am the one they come to for help.

so what do you think? AM I WORTHY?

Ok...the extras I needed to buy:

A/F guage
EGT guage
Tri pillar pod for guages
Fuel Filter ( i didnt but you should )
hex tools (sockets, etc)
Pressure fittings for fuel (hahn sent me all kinds of wrong stuff).
soldering equipment
Dremel <-- OMG, best fuggin thing I had available to me.

OK, things that died during install:

Powersteering belt
thermostat

Things that you need to do when you get the kit:

Ditch those crappy ass HRC exhuast manifold bolts. I've only had my car running for a week and I'm already pissed. They keep coming out. Get yourself some 4g63 8mm studs and nuts.

Do an inventory of your kit. This would have saved me so much trouble and hours of time trying to call HRC support for help (which was very very unsuccessful for me).

YUP, stage 2 is intercooled. so if you want to pick up a 1g smic and piping you're set to just get a stage 1 kit.

One thing I do recommend if you do get it...Read the instructions before you undertake anything. Understand how it all works. You'll be glad you did emoji

I started doing this not knowing how to change my oil so you're better off then me emoji

man if you installed all that crap then you should install the kit yourself! just make sure you read those instructions, and carefully read the fuel system right, or suffer the consequences
