I know awhile ago a post was made about the difficulty in getting these spark plugs. It was even posted that you could not order these plugs any longer as they have been discontinued.

I just received my order from Summit Racing and they had no problem sending me 8 of these plugs. The easiest way to find them is to do a manufacture part search, choose NGK, and then type in either the part number of BKR7E-11 or the stock number of 1283. Either search brings you to the same plug.

BKR7E is NOT the same as BKR7E-11. The -11 means the gap is too wide, and must be smashed back down. Buy the right plug, and you won't have to re-gap, or even gap at all.

It's REALLY not that hard to find them. Autozone is not the one and only parts store in the world. http://sparkplugs.com/results_cross.asp?pid=bkr7e

The correct number is 6097 or BKR7E
The wrong number is 1283 or BKR7E-11

Right, I realize both plugs are the same except for the gap size. I always check the gap on the plug before I install it so either one works for me. I never assume a plug has been pregapped correctly.

I've been buying them from summitracing.com for a couple years and they've ALWAYS been in stock. NAPA Auto Parts also carries them. I use the BKR7E-11. Different gaps for different setups man.

Manufacturers don't recommend adjusting the spark plug gap < or > .008". The reason for this is the ground electrode and center electrode won't line up properly, hindering spark plug performance. http://tinyurl.com/2pzgc

difference = .016 which is 2x the manufacturer's recommended limit of .008

Who said that the BKR7E plug was discontinued?? I have to believe that is false, because I just did a search on the net, and found quite a few places that have them...all different places than what was mentioned in this post..Unless someone has actual proof from NGK that this plug was discontinued, then I just can't believe it. There are TONS of performace motors that use this plug..at least that's what people like to use anyway..just can't see them discontinuing a plug that is so popular
