I have had the turbo on my car for about a week now (T3T4), and i have a external wastegate thats set at 7lbs. i am only boostin 4 at the most right now. now the paper gasket that was on the wastegate at the manifold blew off and there is a bolt missing on the two bolt flange. i was wondering if that could cause me not to fully boost at 7. ive checked all of my couplers and they havent moved. all of the vacuum lines are still hooked up too. any help is greatly appreciated.
I CONTRIBUTED TO THE WIKI! ah... turbo. I love the turbo, the boost, the speed, the sound. and its all better when you do it yourself. cheaper too.

Sure will. Any exhaust gas that bypasses the turbine housing will decrease both spool and total boost.
Don't expect to see 7psi with a 7lb wastegate spring... expect roughly five.

Fix the gasket leak and any others you might have, then connect the wastegate vac line directly to the manifold, if you haven't aready. You should be able to manage 6psi out of that 7lb spring.
