Has anyone mounted an EGT on a stock manifold? I have an EGT (Autometer) and since I won't be turbo for at least 3 months, I was just going to mount it on my stock manifold to get use to the temps. I won't really need the mani once I am turbo anyway and I might just purchase another probe for the turbo mani and sell the stock one with the probe installed.

well you cant weld in the nut that the probe threads into because the NA manifold is made out of molded georgia red clay, rather than your typical iron or steel. and obviously, you cant weld a steel nut to hardened clay.
oh wait, ive just been informed that the manifold only looks like its made of clay, its actually regular old metal. blah...oh well. you could just drill and tap the manifold for installation. and since youre NA you can do it without taking the manifold off. drill the #4 runner and tap it. install the probe and crank it, the motor would blow out all the metal shavings through the exhaust, rather than through a turbine housing. nasty! but if you do this youll be stuck with the heat shield missing from your EX. manifold, unless you drill a big hole for teh probe to go through.
