so i just purchased a aem wideband from ebay for around $230 bucks so now its time for me to turn up the boost when it arrives,.right now im running a t3/t4 60 trim turbo w/255 ph fuel pump, safc and fmu(not sfmu)I had my car dynoed last year at 5 psi my afr was between 11.7 and 12.7 so with the fmu im thinkin about runnin 7-8 psi.o you think my afr will be around the same since its a 12-1 fmu or will i run leaner or richer?

Probably leaner. Why do you have an safc?

x2 you're going to be running at the upper limits of the stock injectors. I ran 7 psi or so on them though for a good year without a problem as have many other people. Just don't get boost happy until you upgrade your fuel and have a spare motor

ok so I bought a 8.7 psi spring and my pressure drop from the intercooler and 2.5 inch ect should put my boost at around 7.7 psi just under 8 psi so just in case should i just go ahead and purchase the 272 disk with short hard dark spring combo for the fmu?I'm wanting to be around 12ish afr but my impression is i may not have to buy all that because from what ive read the safc only inreases timing when you start to LEAN out on it,if this is true i may be able to get away with tuning with the safc if its not very lean.at the moment my a/f ratio is around a 12.5 at 5psi,I'm thinkin with my 12-1 fmu and safc i should have plenty of fuel delivery*crosses fingers*

12.5 is on the lean side to begin with, so I wouldn't be raising boost without the proper fuel. Also, the safc isn't going to help you increase/decrease fuel under boost with a 420a. Also, what you are speaking about with the 2.72" disc and the dark spring is related to the vortech SFMU not a regular FMU. If you really want to safely run 7-8psi (not that you still won't risk the chance of grenading your motor) you better invest in at least an sfmu setup and some 30# or larger injectors. Sounds like you need to do some more research.

aww what?I always thought the spring/rngs/discs were interchangable on the sfmu and fmu,...that sucks
well then first things i'll get some 310cc's with my fmu first and see what my afr is at with that unless I can get a vortech sfmu for cheaper?I also have a set of 440cc injectors with resistor box if anybody wants to trade for 3XX injectors let me know.

Yes, you can change the ring/disc in a normal FMU, however, that just lowers or highers the calibration. Like 12:1, or 8:1 or 4:1 etc...

FMU's are pretty worthless. I would deff get rid of it and atleast get a SFMU. Summit Racing had all Vortech components on sale last week, they were 20% off at the retial store. You should call em up and see if they still have it going on.

OP you can probably find someone on here selling an sfmu for fairly cheap. People are often getting rid of them when they're ready to upgrade to megasquirt. Just be sure you read the few articles in the wiki on the sfmu so you know exactly what you will need to put it all together
