hey all you gobblers out there!!!! i fixed it! okay I is an Mechanical engineer, so i thought damnit i am going to fix this damn thing. well here's the fix. I was thinking about it, and at 0 boost when the turbo is spooling just enough to feed the engine if i let off the gas, it makes a nice deepbreath sound. then if you go to 1 or 2 pounds boost you get a turkey and then 3-10 you get the oh so tasty signature HKS blowoff. i was thinking about it, it cannot be surge, cause it works at 0 boost, gobbles at 1-3 and blows off well at anything higher than this. so i took apart the bov. the small purple valve is controlled by spring pressure. the large valve is just controlled by the small valve pulling back farther, but it moves freely back and forth on the shaft. this is what causes the gobble!!!!. the valve opens just past the small valve range and this allows the large valve to flutter back and forth. if you know how the HKS works yo will know what i am talking about. well i went to work and talked to the Tool and Die makers in the Machine shop and asked if they had springs.Oh and they had springs it took me an hour to find a spring that would work correctly and was soft enough for what i did. well lets get to the point. I found a very light pressure spring like i think it was like 1/6 ounce per inch compression. well, it was soft. it was .002 inch bigger than the shaft in the hks BOV. i put it in the bov around the shaft so it would push lightly against the big valve. that's it. now when i blow off at light boost it don't flutter anymore cause the spring is holding the large valve in place deadening the resonance that would cause the valve flutter. well it's been 3 days since i did this, and it appears to be working great!

do a write up on this mod with detailed pictures and instructions and ill pay you to supply me with the correct spring and all the instructions so i can do it once i get my HKS http://www.geocities.com/blue2gnt --------------------------------------------------------------- VANILLA RICE
Mine makes the gobble sound all the time. I've adjusted the spring in and out. I can't seem to get rid of it. I understand what you're saying james, but I don't want to take it apart yet. Semper, which way does it need to be adjusted? I'll try again.
you want to reduce the tension on the spring so the you would rotate the screw counter-clockwise. Try taking your BOV apart, it's really not that complicated, all it is is just a bypass valve actuated by the pressure of the trapped air and vaccumm of the intake manifold. I got rid of the spring cuz I don't boost alot..maybe high boost is bout 6lbs and normal boost is 1-3lbs. I adjusted my BOV so it goes off around 0 and at a cold night with a little boost it sounds baaaad assss...like: pishhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuu.....ding!...Yes, ding...i've always had that ding (like a chime) when i boost high with and w/o an i/c.
