#103034, "Blown Engine???"

Ok, I took the turbo off my car today because of the blue smoke problem I have to see where the oil was coming from. Bad news, its from the engine. I'm going to run a compression test to see if my piston rings are truly blown. Ill Post back when the test is done. In the mean time, can someone tell me how I can fix this? If worse comes to worse, I guess ill just yank the engine out and rebuild it.

Pending the results of the compression test, that may be the only solution. Are you seeing much oil blowby in your catch can or breather filter?

Is it coming out of the oil breather? thats what happened to me and same with the nasty smoke. I cracked a ring and had a blown head gasket. COuld be the same with you but get that compression checked.

OK, i did the compression test, and keep in mind i have a non turbo 420a engine, the numbers came out as follows

125
125
115
125

i dont have an oil catch can. but i will get one asap and hook it up. im also planning to add an oil thickener so that the oil will stick to the sides of the pistons and not fall in to be burned

Those numbers are very low. Did you try a wet test as well? What were those numbers?

What he said. Service limit is 100psi. You should be seeing more like 160+ per cylinder. About the only thing going for you right now is that all four cylinders are very close together.

I'm hoping its a blown head gasket for now so i can run it, that wouldn't be too hard to replace, but i think i have to take the engine apart anyways because i had an idea for my cars performance, which involves me reinforcing my engine anyways, and luckily for me, my best friends best friend is a crazy mechanic and he said he will consider this a personal project with no charge to use his garage and lifts and tools to get my car back up and running, so i think with his help, i can get my engine reinforced, the rings replaced as well as the pistons...basically i think i just need to rebuild it since i might as well. my car has 80k on it, i might as well turn this puppy into a high performance racing machine while its still alive haha
