Hey all! I'm finally moved to my new college home for my last 2 years of school. Anyway here's the low down. I still can't put the pedal to the metal and stay at or under 5 lbs. I want to rerun all vaccuum hoses which brings me to the next prob. I keep melting the hose that is connected to the wastegate. I did catch the post about wastegate settings but still want to know if this is correct: fitting is screwed into the SIDE and plumbed to reliable vac. line? Is it poss. to adjust the gate to lower boost settings? I do have the allen screw/bolt backed out almost all the way. Maybe I have a 7 lb spring instead of the stage I spring? I'm currently getting the piping together for my starion hopefully tomorrow I can get my EGT installed. Anyone else get a leaking fitting on the oil pressure section? I've tightened it twice(the line). Well I have a long day tomorrow. Please if you got answers hook a brother up! I'm tired of watching sh*theads in camaros drive by me.

Shit is all apart. Typical...

Hmm well the hose on mine hasn't melted yet. See about getting silcone vacuum hoses they'll hold up much to the heat. If you wanna go all out make a heat shield for you turbine or exhusat manifold.

Hmm well on a star you have to get the vaccum from the wastegate on the side then to the compressor housing. Thats how mine is. You should be able to boost 5 psi with a 7 lb spring, might go to 6 but no more if it's set right.

All of my wastegate actuator hoses have heat-worn to the point of breaking. I've gone though six pieces of hose since the day i installed the kit.

You can't control boost? All STAR kits that i know of ship with the 7PSI actuator, which equates to roughly 5PSI at the manifold(unless you specified the 9PSI spring).

Yes, the line is supposed to be plumbed to the side of the wastegate, not the top port. Don't just plumb it into a "reliable" vacuum source, plumb it into the boost nipple on the compressor side of your turbo. you'll get the most reliable signal there. Is your wastegate open air? It *does* open, correct(you'll hear it, if so)?

Do you use hose clamps on both ends of the actuator line? I've found that mine without a hose clamp will blow off even at 5psi.

I'm not sure if I've heard it. On a sure shot I've heard the blow off valve. I do use hose clamps and I'll change it to the comp housing fitting today. Can you describe(yeah I know it's prob impossible to do) the sound I'm supposed to hear and when? (at 5lbs or so?) I know to use larger heater hose around the hose and that slows the melting process. Dino is there anyway I can AIR-MAIL Beer? I will have to look into that b/c right at this point all your help has earned you one.

My wastegate signal hose burn up and dry out all the time. I find if I dont touch it at all it will still do the job. the minute If I breath on it too hard it will crumble away. I haven't switched to silicone yet. I was hitting 6psi with just the wastegate at stage 1 but no more. I guess some mods like exhaust, higher compression ect might allow a bit more than 5psi.
