so i was looking for some new carbon project ideas and came across this.

its on a UK-Spec Evo 6 and looked like a very interesting idea to try and solve the common problem of our engine bay getting so crowded with IC piping and stuff that we really have no way to get a decent cold air flow SAFELY (lol) into the turbocharger.

after a little research it turns out that it is a "Carbon Group A Airbox" made by Rallytech in the UK. www.rallytech.co.uk

Rallytech product description
A carbon fibre box in two halves. Cold air is supplied to the box via the bonnet vent. The box also helps to shield the intake filter from the warm air under the bonnet. It is designed to take a range of filters which can be supplied as part of a kit. The box handles engine powers upto approx. 500bhp.

of course i cant find a price but it gave me some ideas for a 2 piece design that might fit (with the required hood vent of course)

just thought you guys might like to see (i'm bored at work this weekend)

YOu could always take a headlight out.

Ever seen those ram air intakes with a cold air induction tube feeding the center of the filter. Water WILL NOT get sucked up in it and granted, it's still drawing in warm air from the bay, it's significantly cooler than just running the filter without the pipe.

My friend andrew has one on his integra and i thought to myself "why haven't i made something like that yet?"

That is an interesting idea. If we can build it out of a low thermo-conductive material that is less blingy than Carbon fiber, and use black silicone ducting...that should keep the law enforcements confused
