Ok I don't know much about putting a turbo kit on but when I do it I want it to be as quit as possible (sleeper). The question that I have is there any way to run it with out a blow off valve??????? I am just wondering because my friend has a VW Golf TDI and they don't have a blow off valve. When you are sitting in it with no radio you can here a faint pressure release but out side the car you can't even tell. To me this would make a great sleeper if it can be done.

Thank you in advance for any responses.

Most stock cars have a bypass valve that recirculates the air back into the intake because the computer measures the air before it goes into the turbo. Our cars use a MAP sensor instead so theres no point in recirculating the air, you can just let the blowoff valve vent to the atmosphere. If you want a quieter sound, you might want to look at just getting a quieter blowoff valve. I hear the 1g BOV is pretty quiet, but I'm not sure.

Quiet valve on recirc will do the trick.

Staying out of boost will keep them guessing too.

Turbo's make noise regardless. You'll hear em spooling under hard acceleration, even my friend's tiny dsm t25 running on stock boost with a 1g bov recirced makes notable "I have a turbocharger" sounds.

Goodnight sweetheart...yes its time to go...bum bum bum bum bum...good night sweetheart yes I am one little a$$hole......bum bum bum bum....

Thank you for the replies.

All I know is that he has some kind of internal waste gate system and is boosting 21psi with his Garrett turbo.

Yes you can hear it spool up slightly but that's it, no release. When you hear it you would think he has a loose belt or the sound your power steering pump make when it starts to go out. Also there turbo is hidden on the back side of the motor way down on the bottom.

I know that when I'm racing people will be able to tell that I have a turbo but I don’t want them to know till we are racing. I want to be able to cruise around and no one be able to tell that I have a turbo.

Just like my old 80's model Chevy that had a super charged big block in it. I had all kinds of resisters on it to make it sound like a POS V6. Then when I raced some one I would pull the dump lever to run open headers and scare the shit out of them when I racked'em off.

Yeah I have the super 16g and whenever you touch the throttle you can hear the it spool. I also have the 1st gen bov and although it isn't as loud as others, it still is able to be heard. But that is at 12-14psi also, when I had it at 5 psi it wasn't near as loud.

Yeah I think the turbo xs rfl is probably the loudest, but the greddy type rs and the hks super sequential are also very nice also. I think it is personal preference though.
