#101768, "My ultimate thread for my turbo rebuild"

Ok as some of you know my turbo went bad (Hahn S16G). I'm away at college and working on rebuild it right now. Started tonight with a rough start. I already broke the cotter pin hold the wastegate on so I have to get a new one. Got oil feed and compressor housing off. Right now I'm stuck with getting the turbine side off. Any suggestions on how to do this without big tools? I have a nice tool set mainly consisting of sockets and wrenches.

Another small question. Right when the compressor housing comes off there is the big disk that encompasses the actually compressor wheel. Well my idiot friend slipped with the hammer and crack it a little bit on the edge. Big deal, little deal? Hahn sell replacements? Here's a picture of the crack. Just to the right of my friends finger (Not the one who broke it)

It depends on whether or not the deformation causes a leak. The O-ring sits right there; I'm not sure if it can compensate for that crack or not. If there is no leak, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. It doesn't interfere with the compressor blades.

Oh... I see the crack now. Before I thought he was talking about that discoloration; it looked like more of a small dent then a crack. A true crack is a totally different story.

Indeed. You learned an expensive lesson here. Hammers are not tools you use on turbos... emoji

I was just outside smoking a cigarette thinking of this thread and thought i would add:

That thing is going to blow into peices. It's now off-balance. Think of how fast that spins. I've seen off-balance grinding wheels/disks do the same and it isn't pretty.

Goodnight sweetheart...yes its time to go...bum bum bum bum bum...good night sweetheart yes I am one little a$$hole......bum bum bum bum....
