#100128, "20g? really need help!!"

dudes, whats up?

ok, the link below is for a 20g selling by SBR. as all of u may know i am trying to build a street drivable beast, i will get all the supporting mods to handle this turbo, new cams, pistons, ss valves, rods, etc. im even gonna upgrade to a neon tranny.

my question is, by next month i will have the money to buy something and i want to was that money on the turbo. the turbo on the link is a 20g, but do they really sell the td06H one? because i heard that hahn is the only one that caries the td06H 20g? if yes, money is not really an issue, i get the td06H turbine, what wastegate do u guys recomend? and what does porting the turbine inlet and outlet mean???

the link is:

http://slowboyracing.com/estore/product.php?productid=1977&cat=195&page=1

i want to get the td06H 20g, because it is the best 20g right? i will get all the other mods that i need to support this turbo. i

i wanna ride 10-14 psi on daily driver, and push it to 25 psi when on the dyno and track. so what do u guys think?

thanks

You are very confused. That SBR 20g has a 20g compressor wheel in a TD05 compressor housing. It says little about the exhaust side other than TD05 so I'm guessing it has a smaller TD05 exhaust wheel and housing. But you could upgrade to TD06 wheel and housing if so desired.

The 20g that Hahn sells is a Super20g (nothing all that super about it really). it's a TD06 compressor housing with a 20g wheel in it. On the exhaust side it's a TD05 turbine in a 10cm^2 housing.

Now if what I just said makes absolutely no sense to you ... then you can't determine a "better" turbo for whatever setup you want to build. But I'll be nice ... for that price the SBR turbo is not worth it. Its mainly geared toward 1g/2g 4G63 drivers that want to slap a turbo on that flows more than a 16g but looks the same. Though I wouldn't really run the HRC S20G either because at 25psi its pretty much blowing just hot air. The is in the realm of it's top end (28-29psi tops). You can probably find something that spools just as fast and flows more for cheaper.

BTW, that SBR turbo has a mitsu flange and the HRC 20g has a T3 flange. Something to consider if you're buying a manufactured manifold that comes with a particular flange.

yea i kinda get it, so what u are saying is buy the 20g from Hahn, so that way i get the real stuff? because i know the T3 flange is the one that everybody is using right now right?

thanks

Uh. No that is not what I said. I said you can find a turbo for cheaper that will fit all your requirements. You need to do a little research on the turbo you want to use.

Buy a 20g then. But first what do you plan on using as a manifold? That will make the biggest difference as the flange on the the manifold will kinda determine what path on turbos you're going to take.

Garrett's has a turbo with DUAL balling bearing for better spooling, its massive. Id rather go Garrett turbo dual bearings, I thinks its called a 21g. I'd look around more for other 20g turbos

i was thinking about the T3 flange for the manifold, because the 20g comes with that one right? i dont know if that dude that was thinking aobut the tubular manifold ever made it but if he did i will try and buy it from him to see how it works, but if not i will buy the regular exaust manifold with t3 flange, and adapted for an external Wastegate.

My head hurts.

A 20g comes with a Mitsu flange EXCEPT the HRC S20G. They are all internally gated so you have to modify the exhaust housing if you're not going to be using the internal gate on it.

No Garrett turbo comes with the designation 21G. That is a Mistu designation. There are no MHI turbos with ball bearings. It maybe some hybrid slapped together by some company with mitsu housings and garrett center section but it's not real mistu turbo.
