#8985, "no lag in 1st/2nd gear...then...???"

i've been seeing full boost very low in the rpms in 1st and 2nd gear, somewhere around 2700-3000 rpms. Then in 3rd gear, it takes til around 4000 rpms to hit full boost. Is this normal or should i see full boost around the same rpms in every gear. Thanx in advance. oh yeah, HRC stage2 at 6psi. I still have a 2.25 in. cat-back if that makes any difference.

I have the same set up as you do and I am running the same boost. I cant get any more psi without a boost controller. I have the stock exhaust piping on my car though. Hopefully when I get a bigger exhaust it might let it hit 7-8 psi. It could be that when you shift, your rpms are already near 4000 so it doesnt really matter where in the rpm range it hits full boost. It matters how LONG it takes for it to get to full boost. An example is like if you are cruising in 5th gear at like 90mph and let off the gas for a second then floor it. You wont hit full boost until probably 4000-4500 rpm or maybe higher because your rpms are already in the high range. Hope that made some sense?

Due to the less agressive gear ratio in 3rd gear, flooring the car from (for example) 1800rpms to 4000rpm will take longer than in 1st gear and therefore so will the buildup of boost.

It will physically take longer to build boost in 3rd gear, but you should build boost at a quicker RPM on a 3rd gear pull because it's a longer gear. For Example...my car Mutt Level 3...t3 wheel 50 trim compressor. In 2nd gear full boost buy 4000,3900. 3rd gear I hit full boost buy about 3700-3800. Of course from a 2500 roll it feels like it takes longer in 3rd, but it's spooling much quicker as opposed to a 2nd gear pull from 2500.
