#101141, "Your boosted mileage on stock block?"

Ok so I know there have been people who have mentioned how long they've been boosted on the stock block, but I'd like to get a thread where we can see how long and how many miles people have gone before blowing something. Usually it seems people mention time and not miles so I'd prefer to see miles b/c I know there are people here that have run 1, 2, and 3+ years on their stock block. I'll start it up...

~19k miles, 2+ years and still going strong. (aside from my recent mishap but that's not boost related and the bottom end is still A-OK)

I'll let you know how well a 160k mile motor holds up to a turbo soon.
i give it 1k miles tops but we shall see.

** Current status: 9 bent valves. and it only had 6,000 miles on it. i hope the replacement goes well. **

Lots of expensive parts, and still slow! Oh wait, it has to run to go fast.

With stock injectors and mostly highway driving I was still able to get 30mpg. Untuned on accel 30# injectors I still get at least 25mpg

Wow,I guess its because I boost Alot. But I only get about 21mpg and thats city/back road driving. Then again it looks as if you have the STAR kit which has a bigger turbo, harder to spool,my S16G loves spooling lol.I guess I should start a thread but does anyone elses gas hand stay on the full mark for about 100 miles then drop from there like crazy?

Boostin'

You all might want to add what your compression is as well! That would be another interesting bit of info, while everyone is already posting their info.

Wow, 3200 miles in two years? I drive that in a month and a half.

I am going on 5,000 miles in about 3 months on fully stock block at 7-8 psi. Haven't gotten the chance do do a comp. test since before the turbo. But before turbo was 200 across, so I will check it soon.

i used a ebay t3 and was pretty happy with the results.

the break-in is just letting the material get hot (not too hot) then cool until its ready to be punished. if you warm it up good without abusing it about ten times your clutch is broken in. take off in second gear realy slow and clutch it til about 25mph with out stressing it. then let it cool for 15 min. then do it again. just remember to be nice so you don't get hot spots.

got that megasquirt!

I bought my car with the turbo already on there at 87,000 miles and didn't blow anything till 112,000 miles. I did that only b/c i was young and dumb and boosting 12 psi on stock block and fuel system. I would say altogether the turbo was on the car for about 27,000 miles.

bought mine with 35k on it, boosted 8lbs with a turbonetics T3T4, SafcII, and vortech sfmu from 67k when the warranty ended till 115,792. Didn't have probs till 108k when headgaskets started goin left and right. First one went in boost and burned the deck so bad that not even tack spray could make up for it. Third time around I bought eagle rods and It's been a table in the corner of the shop for the last nine months.

Creative thinking? Ingenuity? Hell, It's just an obsession!

Bought the car stock with 32k In 2001, been boosting @ 10-12psi (12psi cool/cold days) since 38k. Pulled the motor out at 79k (few months ago) for a spare built block, Never had any problems with the stock block. Star stage 2, stock injectors.....maybe I was lucky
