Can someone recommend the right Dremel and accessories to be strong enough to cut my brake pedal for my swap and to cut out the holes in my firewall for my clutch pedal? I'm not familiar with Dremels so any help would be appreciated. I apologize if I posted this in the wrong place, I think it has to do more with the interior than the nvt-350. Thanks again.

For drilling through the firewall, you're best off using a a hand drill with the appropriate size bit. I believe Dremels and similar rotary tools can really only cut 1/8" holes at a time; plus it'd be awfully laborious to try and drill through that firewall with such a small tool. Get a drill and do it right.

yea even with a hand drill its still a pain but if all you have is a dremel i would say diamond tip bit

there is a template on the firewall. The fire wall seems to be 2 layers of sheet metal and i used that to guide my tool. When i did my 5 speed swap I used a dremel with drill bit in it. I used a punch in the center to create a hole then inserted the dremel tool and worked my way out to the edge then followed it around.

I found it handy to have a griding wheel attachement as well to clean up the hole.


And if anyone tells you that you need to remove the dash for installation they are crazy. Simply remove the brake pedal and the clutch pedal will go in from an angle. You will probably be replacing the brake pedal anyway or at least cutting it down. And don't forget to attach the ECU grounding wire before you install the clutch pedal.

Go look for a knockout tool. The knockout tool I used required me to drill a 5/8" hole through the center of the ring on the firewall. I then used a ratchet to crank down on the knockout and made a damn near perfect hole that matched the slave cylinder. All I had to do was file the sharp edges down.

Thanks for the help, but I solved this problem early last month lol. I just used a drill (metal cutting bits) to cut out the holes for the pedal and I used the same drill plus a Stanley fine toothed saw to cut the pedal. Lastly, I dressed the pedals up with aftermarket pedal overlays held with self tapping screws since I had to cut the brake pedal anyway. Here are pictures.
