LAST EDITED ON 17-Oct-01 AT 08:10 PM (PST)

ok guys, i have a completely awesome way to change the color of your plastic trim and dash on our cars. this is the way i just finished my entire car and it came out awesome.

1) remove pieces, clean in bathtub with dish soap and a brillo pad type scrubber (sos) and lightly scrub the plastic. if its tan or gray it will lighten a little, dont worry...

2)then completely dry, make sure there is no water or dust on it at all....

3)then the three products that you will need are: bulldog plastic to paint adhesive in a spray can(makes the entire difference), sem paint for plastic(i used gloss black), and krylon clear coat(i also used glossy)......

4) apply two coats of bulldog, a few minutes apart, then 2-3 coats of color, then 2-3 coats of clear coat....

5)let dry 24 hours, then reattach and i promise you will be happy...

6)i used a cardboard box in my garage and keep the door more than half way down to stop wind and dust.....good luck and happy painting!!!!

when its all together, and the body works done it will get a digital camera and post a bunch of pics. sem is not some paint; it is a brand, you can find it at a good paint shop for about 9 bucks a can. the bulldog is about 10 a can. vegas give me an email and you can cruise down and see it....

Wow.. Im really glade you told me how to do that.. seeing how Ii did mine back in 99, haha.. emoji

But really. I've done a few peoples around here and I learned the touch up car paint in the small spray cans at wal-mart works the best. One cans does all the parts, and you can color match it to your car paint. Plus you dont "have" to clear coat it because it's car paint so it has a shine already. I did place 2 coats on the parts tho just so they could with stand daily use and not scratch all up... I also sanded mine down with FINE sand papper to make it smooth, I didnt like the "leather look" in Gunmetal gray. But guys.. please dont go over borad and paint half of the dash, I'd hate to see someone fuck up they're nice dsm... later..

OK, I got the sem paint and the bulldog adhesion stuff and some clear,I gave my parts a bath with a brillo and detergent, but when i went to paint i still got some bubbles??? i proceeded to strip the part and then sand and apply a degreaser, guess what same thing happened but with less bubbles, will i have to go through this with every part?

yuo might have had a lot of armoral or something on there cuz i really had no bubbles...? make sure you use the cans from about a foot away and just mist them and all i can say about the bubbles is to try cleaning them better....

I'd use some kind of degreaser or paint thinner(probably not too good on plastics) to dry out the panels good first.. Does your primer go on good or does it bubble too? If it bubbles too then your spraying too close or your surface isnt prepped good enough.

SHit, $10. I just got auto paint from advanced auto parts(like pep boys) for like $2.50-$3 a can and sanded it, blew dust off, washed it, dried, then painted and cleared and I'm STR8. Say what u want, but I got the poor-man's interior and it looks good to me.

anyone here in houston try paintig the interior. i tried it a few days ago and fu$%ed up my drivers side door. i just did that part to see how it all come out. i cleaned it. sanded it. cleaned it again. let it dry. put a primer coat. two or three coats of enamel color (gloss black) and then a few clear coats. i let it dry 48 hours. the paint came out all uneven and its smooth some places and ruff in some places. it looks like crap. now, whats the best way to get the paint off. i was just going to buy another door panel. let me know what yall think!!!
