#9684, "Large Aluminum Wings???"

I just got my aerospeed wing. Although it is a aluminum wing it is still heavy(for a wing). I was just wondering if anyone has had problems with the weight of the wing and the hatch back? I saw an eclipse at a show a couple of weeks ago and it was cracked on the hatch were the wing was mounted to it. Is a big wing too much weight, and what should I look out for?(install and driving)

Also is the back hatch made of metal or fiberglass? I though most hatches on cars are made of fiberglass.

As always thanks

the hatch is metal. personally, i don't like bigass wings, unless you planning on flying to europe or something.

That's right, Aluminum wings are freakin' heavy for what they look like in photos, or for what you'd imagine them to weigh.

Jen, are you trying to say something emoji ?

Chris : Could you give me a weight for your wing? I am very curious to see how much APR wings weigh. Thanks.

Chris: That is freakin light! Wow... say does the wing flap at high speeds? (Not that a self-respecting law-abiding person like you would be travelling at high speeds) emoji

Jen: So what's the obsession with Scheisse?

PS if anyone figures how to fly their Eclipse to Europe, please tell me! I will be needing that info very shortly!

No obsession. Chris was just a lil confused and got on my a$$ for using slang and not knowing how to spell it... But he didn't even know what the word ment and that it was spelled right. But that's okay, I forgive you, Chris emoji Now you know... lol

Be Careful! Any aluminum or touring wing that just mounts on two points will put a lot of pressure onto those points. If you slam your trunk too hard, the force of the wing coming down can dent your hatch. Saleen wings are notorious for doing that, so just be careful when closing your trunk...my friend's car had a fiberglass touring wing (just like the aluminum one mounting in two places) and someone pushed down on his wing and made a huge dent in his trunk.

I have the aerospeed wing and it is a lot heavier than I thought it would be. I have enough common sense not to slam it though. I was just worried about speed bumps and pot holes causing it to crack or dent the hatch.

Thanks for the info chris, I'll see you in Europe emoji
