#9654, "License Plates?"

I live in NY and I dont know if any of you guys do, but do I REALLY need a plate in the front of the car? I know some states dont require it, but Im not sure if NY does. My friend told me that you can pay a fee to the DMV so that you can drive without a plate on the front. I want my car to look good but I also dont want to get a ticket emoji Does anyone have any clue? Thanks.

I also live in NY and no, you cannot pay the DMV a fee to drive without a front plate. What you can do is drive without it, get pulled over and get a ticket for $110. For $110 I'll leave my plate on it doesn't look that bad.

I got pulled over once for not having a front license plate (in Missouri). I told the cop that the license plate bracket broke and I'm waiting for a new one ordered by the dealer. I also told him that I would put it in the windshield, but he said that that wasn't safe. He said to put it under the seat cause if I got in an accident the license plate "could fly off the dash and injure me"... So I put it on with suction cups.

The license plate is what they aim for if they are using laser. Radar just catches the whole car. So the only way I see no front plate pissing a cop off is if he's using laser, then they aim for headlights.

I'm like stan. 1 parent lives in NC and other lives in VA. So i'm in VA with NC tags and a VA license... wow kinda confusing, but at least it saves me from having a front plate.

i live in Pa with a Pa license but parents live in va so i got 2 tags. my solution is to stick the plate in the air dam. you cant tell its there unless you look directly at the front of the car. keeps the lines of the car clean this way.

Stan's right. NC is boring, but you only need 1 tag. Also, most inspection places just give out stickers and say fuck it to really inspecting the car. Last time, I had blackouts on headlights and clear tails. They were like if anyone asks, u didn't have those on when we inspected it. emoji Gotta love the NC DMV sometimes. Cops here are another story.

Well hell I got VA plates, but am going to school in NC, I think I am going to take my front plate off and just keep it in the trunk so I can put it on whenever I go home. I dont think the cops in NC will trip on that will they??

I like in San Jose, California and in cali you need to have a front plate, I read it in the Vehicle Code. But eversince I've had the car (got it used) it's never had a front plate. I'm waiting for a cop to give me a fix ticket first then I get the plate, it doesn't look too bad with the plate holder, either that or go Lancer Style and put it on the side hehe ^_^ Most people just put em on their dashes but I'm sure if a cop is a real dick he'll still give you a ticket. Cops don't mind me just an ugly turbocharged RS rollin the streetz.

you can still get a ticket if you put in on the front window.
also if your airbag deploys.. it could create serious problems
