I have clear talillights, and I got tired of the red paint on my bulbs burning off so I bought 6 red LED taillight bulbs. They look amazing, but they make my blinker blink incredibly fast. Anyway to adjust the blinker speed without removing these bulbs. It isn't a very big deal, but Im just curious if it's possible. Any help?

Usually that's caused (some guys do this on purpose, only reason i know) by the bulb or wiring grounding on something it shouldn't. Check your grounding/wiring.

I'ts probably having to do with the voltage that the LED bulbs draw. Like when a bulb blows out, the turns signals blink fast to let you know that a bulb is out. But in your case, a bulb might be drawing less voltage than normal, so the car "thinks" that a bulb is out, so its blinking fast..don't think there is much you can do about it. Some people like me actually like fast turn signals...

i hate the fast turning signal stuff, makes me all agitated to change lane . The led bulbs are made by apc. The autozone by my school actually carries them, otherwise try a performance/accessory shop. If that don't work then you can order from jcwhitney

Yeah, I had clears, and got the altezzas, cuz cops were hasslin' me bout the clears. I got LED bulbs and the blinkers are fast. I like it tho. People always ask, how are your lights so dark red? What did u do to make them blink faster????

check the amperage of the bulb, if you have a bulb that pulls too much amperage it can cause this or even cause the bulbs to go opposite of each other when applied.

It is becasue the LED bulbs draw WAY less current. Not really a whole lot you can do about it. If you splice in another bulb socket and use a regular bulb in there and leave it inside the car it may help. I have had mine on for some time and they have always blinked fast. No biggie. It does however screw with my cruise control too! It makes my cruise not engage when the tails are on! ???

The reason that blink fast is because they draw much less power than normal bulbs, so the computer thinks one is out. If anyone finds a way to change the blink speed, I'd appreciate it.
I got the LED from Autozone for 7$ each. They look incredible, and you don't have to worry about the paint burning off like the coventional red bulbs.

If your adventurous you can try splicing a resistor in series with the bulb. The higher the ohmage, the slower the blink. You might even try putting in a potentiomitor so you can adjust the rate. I would think you only need to do it on 1 side since if you remove a any 1 bulb it affects them all. Seem logical? Maybe i'm on crack.

Each side is single from the other. You would have to do it on both sides, but also keep in mind if you put a resistor in there it is going to have to be a high wattage and it will produce hella heat!

804 is right, it's using a lower amperage, making the car think there's a blown bulb. I've tried the resistor setup and it will draw too much heat, and caused them to stutter do to lack of voltage. all you can really do is deal with it. mine will actually change blink speed w/rpm. I'm about to switch to just 4 bulbs, so it'll blink hella fast...

Series or paralell? I was wrong in my previous post. Series will drop the voltage, but paralell will drop the amperage (trying to think back to vocational school). You want to put the resistor in paralell.

Ok if you're really annoyed by fast blinking, you can buy those universal relays that adjust blinker speed. They run about 40 bucks, and have a variable dial so you can change from super fast blinking to super slow blinking. It's the same concept, all circuits, but it's wired up into a switch you can control on the fly...
