#94806, "Project: <-Back to my roots->"

Well it has begun and for those that don't know I am putting my car back to stock. I put all the money I received from selling all my show parts into the motor. I just got done installing my fully built motor just last week. I have a few bugs to work out as you can hear on the attached video (poor quality...sorry!) Sounds like a lifter ticking. Here are also a few pics of the going back to my roots (stock) progress!

Those are stock bumpers and side skirts he put on in the quest to return to stock, not part of a paint job he paid for, lol.

Yah the EGR block off is part of the problem. I still think I have another vac leak somewhere else as well. I am thinking the mani gasket. Going to do a leak down test today.

Compression came back good for a cold compression on an unbroken in motor with only 2 miles on it. 8:8;1 JE's and got 190-195-200-200.

A slightly darker shade of silver...not quite silver and not quite gunmetal.

Lot of money being spent, you probably would have been better off selling the car how it was before and picking up another 2gnt like a 99 Anniversary GS or maybe a GSX that has been untampered. Best of luck though, now that you are going back to stock you should still look into covering those scoops it just doesnt look rite.

Yah, but I really like the look of stock more now then ever. Its going to look really clean. I might end up getting a front lip for her later on down the road or maybe not. I am more focused on performance now then looks.

Plus I want to take attention off my car. The local police are cracking down after the big street racing bust that took place on interstate 564 a few months ago.

Plus I am not really into the show scene anymore. I will go to them to take pics, but that is the extent of it.

I agree with a few others when they said your car was smooth and clean looking for having the non-stock look to it. Theres just something about these cars stock that gives them that 'magic' look or whatever you want to call it.

I've never been a fan or been big on body kits and aftermarket appearance on the 2G's as I've always thought it draws too much attention to the car, but your car was one of the few that was done well.

Wow. Seeing the current pics of your car almost brought a tear to my eye. emoji I definately think you should have kept your car the way you had it and just bought a stock 2g and built the engine up. After all that money you spent making your car one of the best looking 2g's on this site, to strip it back to stock is like selling an eclipse to buy an old school civic.

I sold the whole kit to someone local.

I guess after the 5 or 6 years of having a kitted car you want to change it up a bit. I mean our cars are dead sexy out of the box and you can't go wrong. A little drop and some nice rims and your set as far as looks go.

I don't see why everyone is giving you so much crap for switching it up to stock. I like what you are doing with it. Sure it looked good before, but I think it will look even better now. Can't wait to see what it looks like when you get done with it.

I still remember when your car was black with dark green graphics. It was sexy then, and even sexier with the silver/black color scheme, but now it is just a dime a dozen.. blends in, looks normal. At least it will be fast, but man. The last good example of really nice kitted out 2gnts is gone emoji (sorry to eclipse982nr but your choice of colors has consistently sucked).

It's what's inside that counts.

I think your car looks fucking tight as it sits today. It's like you traded the car's dress shoes for some cross trainers. It looks very aggressive, especially in the sig pic.

Way to go. Glad to hear you're coming around! emoji

Congrats on the sale. If you don't mind me asking how much did you get for it and what are you planning on getting next?

I'll tell ya when i get the cash, She was going to bring up 8000 but she had trouble accessing her trust fund (millions) so she said if i hold it for her she would give me 10K for my troubles. Very undecided now on what im getting next...but everyone will find out sooner or later. If i get 10K it will be the best sale of all time!!
