Hello everybody. I wanted to do some repainting on a few panels that have gotten messed up over time (bottom of bumper went to crap after a tow truck ruined it, for example).

I have a 7 gallon tank and was wondering if that would be enough for say spraying small things alone. I want to shave my spoiler and would like to be able to spray my hatch, respray the bumper, etc..

Thanks guys.

should be fine, when you spray your only gonna be using around 25-30psi so your 7 gallon tank should be fine, just be sure to get a filter on there to catch any unwanted moisture going through the compressed air, dont need that getting in your paint, its not a pretty site, i just got done painting my wifes car, the whole thing and ive got an 8 gallon tank. just make sure your in a well ventilated area with very little to no dust.

it has nothing to do with the size of your tank for the compressor and everything to do with the amount of CFM your compressor puts out and how much CFM the gun you are going to use takes up. If the compressor can't deliver enough air to the gun you will constantly be stopping and waiting for the compressor to catch up and that doesn't work very well, especially when it comes to clear coating. so basically you need to find the gun you are going to use and figure out how much CFM it requires and then find a compressor that can supply it.
