First, regarding bondo. I am trying to fix a hole in my center console and used bondo. Looks 90% great but for the rest of the 10%, there are some holes that are really tiny. Anyone know how to take out the tiny microscopic holes?

Now, another issue. I used Black RTV sealand to seal my headlights. Unfortunately, I need to open my headlights again so anyone know if there is a way for me to open up my headlights again or am I royally screwed for using RTV sealant?

you kidding me? RTV? i used that shit on my TB, and it peels right off, maybe heat it up a bit and itll come right off. about the bondo i dont know, i had a crack on my console, but i just got a new one

make sure u sand the bondo real smooth, those tiny holes are normal. Go and get some SPOT FILLER/PUDDY. In a small toothpaste like tube. You spread it in over the bondo and it fills those holes.

yea get a polyester filler/putty to fill pinholes. I use Metal Glaze, from Evercoat.

yea use polyester glazing putty for the small pinholes. i dont like spot putty cuz it shrinks more .remember to add the right amount of hardener when filling or u will always get pinholes . one small bead of hardener across the filler your gonna mix up .and mash it together not mix it

Whoa you're suppose to use hardener with spot putty/glazing putty? I don't think I read that in the instructions.

NO, he was telling you that when you use filler to use the right amount of hardener and to "fold" it instead of mixing or stirring it.

Ohhh okay. This bondo thing is pretty handy! This is my first time using it and its kinda neat being able to shape things with this stuff.

Some spot putty does have a hardener for it, that is the best kind to use, in my opinion

better than some... Greater than most

Call me crazy but if the holes are truely tiny then you can simply wipe some #7 rubbing compound into the surface and let it dry. Wipe it flush with a dry paper towel then put another coat of paint over it. The compound fills in the holes and the paint seals it in.
I've done this for years on both cars and composite glass work on aircraft. Wasn't my idea...learned it from a paint shop guy. If you have the 2 part spot putty, use it. I mainly used the rubbing compound trick when the surface was already painted before I saw the holes. Most 1 part spot putties will dissolve or soften a painted surface so you would end up messing up the painted finish if you tried to use those after you had primed or painted. That's why I'd use the rubbing compound trick.





RTV removal. Sorry. Yes, you are probably screwed. If you used 100% silicone RTV it will not soften even up to 450 degrees F. Maybe you will get lucky and find it didn't stick good to the housing and then might peel off in strips.
