I was looking into buying a set of oem foglights for the 97-99 bumper and had a question. On the RS bumper, the inserts in place of the foglights are just like a vent. How would you go about installing a set of oem foglights into the RS bumper. I've looked around and it says most of them come with a bracket, but nowhere have I seen the whole assemply like the insert/foglight/bracket assembly. If anyone can actually understand my question, do you know how I would go about switching from inserts to foglights looking exactly like the GS.

The black vented inserts can be replaced with the foglight ones, from the dealer, should run you 7 bucks. Or just cut the hole into the ones you have.

The wires and such are all there, brackets are not there. Those are attached to the fogs most of the time.

And do the brackets for the foglights mount to the bumper or to the insert?

I mounted my aftermarket Pilot Automotive lights to the bumper support so they come off as a complete assembly with the bumper. I made spacers to lower the supplied mounting brackets to a better location. This allows a full range of adjustment and I can still access the screw that retains the factory plastic bezel(with the back cut out).

they mount to the bumper and i have a fully loaded rs model and the wiring was not present nor was the brackets or the relay or the fog light switch so i got a set of oem fog lights and bought an install kit at walmart that cam with everything needed and installed them. and i kept my old inserts i just cut the pieces out that needed to be cut to fit the lights.

so you guys would suggest just buying the foglight and bracket and cutting out the back of the inserts and fit the foglights through those holes. The bracket mounts to the bumper itself not the insert correct?

yes, just buy the pilot set, this way you know you have everything you need. You can either cut out your RS covers(i tried it but didnt like the look) or buy the GS+ fog light covers. One thing if you use the actual stock fog light covers, your pilots will leave like maybe a inch gap in between the lights and cover. No one would ever notice, its just something i noticed on mine. and you should have the holes already on your bumper(the metal bumper). It should take no longer than 30 minutes(thats taking your time) to bolt it up and run the wiring, assuming you know what your doing. Also you will have to trim a plastic panel behind your bumper to gain access to your metal bumber. I just used a drimmel for this, and didnt have a problem. hope that helps.

Well Ive seen 2 Rs's that had the wiring there, its not where it should be its up by the headlights , but it was there.

As for the OEM fog light mounting location, its on the Radiator support. Right at the lower bends, hence why the Star Kit guys cant use fogs or atlaeast not the oem Drivers one. The Intercooler Pipes go right through there.

I also opted for the slimmer aftermarket pilots. Made a bracket out of metal and mounted to the oem mounting points with 3 bolts.
