#90515, "windshield measurements?"

Can I get someone to measure a windshield top to bottom and side to side to tell me what size it is? There's nothing in the search and I need to see if a windshield from a car with a sunroof will fit one without.

Thanks!

If you have to remove it your self make sure you use paino wire. I made the mistake of trying to remove one once with just a windshield knife and cracked it in the bottom corner. it also helps to have a second set of hands but I'm peobably preaching to chior here.

Your very weclome Brian. I usually use a couple sets of vice grips to hold the paino wire from both sides of the glass (use it like a sawing motion back and forth). The Urethane is soft enough to push the wire through (use a heat gun in a spot to warm it up if you have to, little trick we use up north in the winter)in a corner using needle nose plyers to hold it and push it through. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

we do these at the shop i work at, def not a fun task to get out without breaking, but very possible, when we do have to remove and replace the same window we use a windsheild cutting tool, kind of like a dull knife that vibrates and will cut the urethane, but still breaks easy, never heard of a piano wire but it sounds like it would work. Good luck with it though. I do know when i ordered mine there was a dif in the hardtop w/and w/o a sunroof but they don't specify the difference however i think that has already been answered.

I've done it both ways the tool you are referring to is nice to have for quick removal of broken windshields. But if you want to reuse it I suggest the Paino wire. I've done this dozens of times and never ever cracked a windshield using this method. And It is still pretty fast. I pulled a windshield in about 5 minutes in the middle of winter in NY with paino wire.
