Okay, so after dinner last night, I was driving a friend home, and we noticed my headlight was out. Then, on my way home, my other one went out. No biggie, except I just bought them a week ago, and I was having to drive like an asshole w/ only my brights. So this morning I go and try and change them w/ a new bulb. Nothing, wonderful, I'm pretty positive I torched my wires. So then I recall how it must have happened:
I went into Auto Zone last week and asked a kid named Aaron, who henceforth shall be known as "Dong", if I had any options to make my main lights in my projectors brighter. Dong says "Oh sure, hey instead of putting in a 55w bulb, you can put in these 100w bulbs and they'll be twice as bright." I made it a point to ask him if that would melt my wires, or elsewise fuck my shit up, and Dong's reply was, "Oh no, I run these in my car all the time, and have never had any problems." Dong then proceeded to install them on my car. So to shorten things up, Dong picked out too high a watt of bulb, Dong assured me it was okay, Dong gets paid to lend his "expertise" or lack thereof, Dong took his own gorilla hands and installed them in my car. And now a week later, my wires burn out. Coincidence? I doubt it.
So I went in today and explained to them the entire situation, and they said they'd go ahead and give me new 55w bulbs to see if those worked, which of course they didn't. So I went back in and got my money back for them. I then proceeded to ask if there was anybody I could talk to about having AutoZone pay to get my headlights fixed, since it was an employee of theirs (Dong) who installed the incorrect bulbs, and thusfully fucking my wiring up. The lady sort of laughed and said, "Oh, well he was more of just giving advice," and proceeded to basically tell me it was my fault for listening to him. I reminded her that HE told me they would work, even after I asked him if they wouldn't, and that HE physically installed them on my car. Hadn't he have picked them out, reassured me they were safe, and put them in my car, none of this would have happened. So she told me that I had to talk to the store manager, yet refused to give me his number. All she would tell me was that "he might be in at the end of the week." Verbatim. Wow. My back-door hurts.
Now, everyone I've talked to basically said "should they fix it? yes. Will they fix it? No". Any recommendations as to what I should do? I'm going to try and call AZ headquarters here after I'm done typing this, I'll post how it goes.
I've checked the headlight fuse, and it's fine. Can anyone give me any ideas on a way I could fix this myself, even temporarily? The rubber insulation on the flat connector which used to be clear, is now black, so it was obvious it's a wire problem. Any help is appreciated. -Chris
P.S. I'm pretty pissed off, and was typing fast, so if some of that doesn't make sense, I appologize.
