#89011, "Rim investment question..."

I'm looking into buying some ADR 5-spoke 18's, and lowering, so of course I'm starting to save some money up so I can do it all at once, so as I'm not cruising around on a 18" wheel 4x4 dsm. Anyway, I had a friend of mine offer me some 17" Motegi MR7's (overplayed, especially on dsm's, I know) with some pretty new tires that are Toyo FZ4's in a 225/45/17. The price he's given me on the set of all 4 is just incredible, because he just had them sitting in a shed and doesn't have any 5-lug cars anymore. My question is, should I buy them, and put them on my car since they're so cheap? Should I buy them and sell them for like $500? Or should I just keep saving for the 18's?

18s all the way. 17s look decent, but 18s are worth every penny. don't even buy them to resell. just wait for 18s.

Yeah, believe me, I agree that 18's look 100% better. He's selling them to me for $350, at that price, you don't even think I should try and hawk them somewhere else?

Also, out of pure curiousity, does anyone have any pics of a dsm on 18's at the stock ride height? J/w what it would look like. Thanks!

-Chris

I would buy them and just hold on to them. You can easily get a nice return on that 350. If you sell them for 500+ then thats 150+ towards your 18s.

Yeah, that's good thinking. That would actually buy all the wheels, the I'd just need tires....hmmmm....

Make sure you do not skimp on the fucking tires dude or you will kick yourself hard. Buy tires that have a rim guard for the curb. I am looking at two rims that are fubar and it pisses me off major!!! And buy tires that are wide enough not lil rubber band pizza cutters like the fuckin rubber I have.. God I hate my life... As you can tell I just fucked my 18s up tonight.

I'd buy the rims, and sell the rims and tires separately.

If I got 18's, what would be the biggest sidewall I could have without causing any problems? I, too, am not a fan of rubberbands...

Note sure on the size of the sidewall because mine are stretched on my rim because wheelguyz screwed up in my sizing. On another note, if you look at my signature this that was at stock ride height with my 18s. I have since lowered 2" and it is a perfect drop it tucks really nice
